    Bosch Classic about to die?

You're bilingual aren't you? or is it text speak rather than German you are best at? http://www.ebay.de/itm/BOSCH-PEDELEC-E-BIKE-ANTRIEBSEINHEIT-MITTELMOTOR-250W-MOTOREINHEIT-MOTOR-25km-h-/121942334736?hash=item1c64545d10:g:6oIAAOSwoydWqMln

Mid crank drive motor - what type of gears are best?

I have a Dahon Mu, I'm fairly sure it would not be easy to roll when folded. Perhaps it may just be the magnet that holds it together whilst folded that needs improving to hold it together better and stop the front wheel from angling away from straight, perhaps that's something that has been...

Mid crank drive motor - what type of gears are best?

I imagine it would be very easy to break an Alfine hub with a Bafang CD motor, mess up the complex (brake dab to cut power) gear change and the hub isn't going to like it. The power of an e-bike masks the less efficient hub gears slight drag, I'm happy with the hub gears on my e-bike, but I'd...

Mid crank drive motor - what type of gears are best?

Unless they've made massive strides in the speed at which the power goes on and off I wouldn't touch one myself. and from Trex's comments above it doesn't look like they have. If I still wanted one I'd say it was essential to try before buying to see if you could cope with the way they change...

    Bosch Classic about to die?

Indeed Phill there does seem to be hope that things are improving, I hope that Bosch UK man is on the case and can put in place the necessary parts support to avoid a scenario where Bosch bikes could actually be scrapped because the cost of replacing a broken Bosch motor is deemed uneconomical.

    Bosch Classic about to die?

Me neither, perhaps if we advise every potential new customer who asks the "which bike to buy" question and we advise them not to buy a Bosch bike, Bosch will do something about their poor customer support, especially for motors now outside warranty.

    Conventional to eBike transition....

I have the team car follow me round, I ride my KTM Revelator on the flat and downhill bits and swap to my KTM Macina for the uphill bits, Actually it's really only the flat bits where the Macina is a nasty horrible slug of a bike.

Cube Reaction Hybrid Pro/Bosch CX 500wh

It's very easy really, you just need to lengthen the outer cable a fraction with an adjuster. When looking from behind the bike the chain line from a sprocket down through the rear derailleur needs to be straight.

Cube Reaction Hybrid Pro/Bosch CX 500wh

The cable has probably stretched a fraction so the outer needs extending ever so slightly, it'll have adjusters somewhere, on the rear derailleur, on the shifter or on a cable mount on the frame.

Correct, it's based on a power steering motor.

    Bosch Classic about to die?

I saw that. I'm not pulling my motor to bits again just yet, I can measure the shaft if I pull the crank arm off. I just need someone to explain how you read an old vernier, like an idiots guide please? Does that 21.3 mm you mentioned exist then?

    Bosch Classic about to die?

Not 100% that's why I said it needed confirming. However ISIS axles are between 21.2 and 21.4 mm, so I'm fairly sure. My digital vernier had just packed in at the time.

Alfine 8 experts -please help !

I didn't touch that bit. I guess you could get a feel for how strong that spring is without any disassembly by pushing the mechanism round with your finger, mines not at all easy, not so bad when you stick a 2mm pin in that hole near the cable nipple clamp. This shows the bit with the spring...

Alfine 8 experts -please help !

I've just serviced an Alfine 8. The bearings were loose, I think I got there just in time to save the shell. I'm certainly no expert, I used bearing grease in the bearings and L/EPO grease inside, lots of it. Don't dunk it in transmission fluid, it'll dilute the grease and leak out. I split the...
