    Crank Drive Motor Clunking Noise

Until recently the accepted wisdom was that building was not of much (if any) financial advantage. I think that might be changing a little now. Certainly, if you are handy, already have a bike/other kit or want something special then DIY is a great option. I build my own as I like the...

    Crank Drive Motor Clunking Noise

Depreciation has a lot to do with the cost of a replacement battery. Most are considered end of life after 3 years so it's with asking about this when considering a purchase. Sent from my HTC 10 using Tapatalk

Ongoing reliability of Kalkhoff/Focus Impulse 2 motors

Chain stretch is an oft missunderstood concept. I bought a nice Carrera Kraken (my 3rd one, I'm a big fan) a couple of months back from a bloke who said it was knackered as the 'chain was stretched'. In fact, it had something like 6 links too many in it! Sent from my HTC 10 using Tapatalk

Free batteries in exchange for genious

To make things worse, typically you can only use 50% of an SLA, less from a low discharge rate one. So, the OP would need 48 of them. Even then, voltage sag would be an issue. Sorry, there's no such things as a free lunch. Or battery. Sent from my HTC 10 using Tapatalk

    spoke tension

You will need to set the tuner to manual, and take a readout of the frequency (or at least the note) unless you happen have a standard tuned wheel! I can't play 'Stairway' on my rear unless I de-tune spokes 1, 3 and 5. Then it's close enough for prog. Sent from my HTC 10 using Tapatalk

    spoke tension

To be honest, unless you are totally tone deaf it will be obvious if you have a loose one. Pluck them one at a time. If it's a rear wheel, one side may be higher than t'other, depending on how its built. On a front they should be about the same. Any that are loose will make a distinct 'thunk'...

    Regretable a Dawes bike owner

If you perform the tests that D8veh has taken time to describe you will solve your problem quickly and with least cost. Sent from my HTC 10 using Tapatalk

    Hub motor conversion

Not easily, as the wires come out of the centre. You could use the spinning hub to drive something with a belt though. Sent from my HTC 10 using Tapatalk

    The Grand Tour

I would imagine that's classed as a petrol motorcycle. Its only the transmission that's electric. Sent from my HTC 10 using Tapatalk

    Hai bike

Its not pracrically possible to register it, so you also cannot insure or tax it. The chances of being caught are pretty low, but it's important to understand your position. Sent from my HTC 10 using Tapatalk

How High can you go on a single charge

No its not. The OP is asking how high you can go, not how high he can go. I don't have any data myself, but I know there are peeps on here who like to climb stuff. Sent from my HTC 10 using Tapatalk

Do ebikes take the fun out of cycling ?

Electric bikes can be a gateway drug. After many years of cycling until my late 20's, I gave up. The combined pressures of work, family, a lack of time and a vivacious enthusiasm for beer, wine and slobbery took their toll. Being on the road with a generous expense account only added to the...

250 watt is it a myth?

But, all Chinese controllers have a 'speed limit enable' wire, which needs to be connected to function. Mine always become 'broken' in some way, which allows the motor to continue assist up to around 18mph on a 250w system. The amount of assistance will naturally tail off as the motor spins...

    offroad kit

I don't know, (as I haven't tried it and I am assuming that it uses a BLDC motor) but there's a good chance the KU65 would work. It'll run sensorless, so that only leaves phase angle as a potential problem. That would be a great upgrade path for anyone wanting it, as it would enable a...

    offroad kit

What do you mean by off-road kit? You can put just about any tyres you like on it, you could even upgrade the forks/brakes if you wanted...

    Gears and Tyres

Chaps, you should learn to do this yourselves. It's not difficult, and should take no more than 10 mins. Worst case you'll need: A 6" adjustable spanner 3 aluminium tyre levers Puncture repair kit and/or spare tube. A small pump. You should find a way to carry this on the bike so it's always...

    Inside The HWBS Sensor

This explains something I have been confused about for a long time. A member on here (D C) kindly gave me a couple of HWBS's. He said they didn't work for him. They worked perfectly for me, and I was at a loss as to why they didn't work for him. Now I know the answer: I'm too much of a tight...
