20 mile commute on an Electric Mountain Bike...

I'm going to pull out that damned graph again... :p As you see above once you get to about 15 km/h or so the air starts to get in the way. So if you are on a road bike or an electric assisted road bike the result is the same - the graph illustrates the difference between air resistance and...

    9-Speed Freewheel

My idea is to disassemble a 7 speed and mount 8 speed cogs on the 7 speed body to have a wider range (up to 34 tooth granny). There is the Aussie guy on ES who has cut a 7 speed down to make a 5 speed which is also an interesting read.

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Not been to Paris lately then? I stopped going a long while ago because of lung issues. The whole taxation of petrol to make diesel the only affordable choice for people on tight budgets was never a very good idea. In the 41 years I have been here I have only owned one (1) diesel car and that...

    For all you sailors

http://northman.pl/en/jachty/maxus-22-2/ A Polish chap just finished a single handed, non stop round the world on one of those (no motor, no assistance of course) in 271 days. I think he deserves a generous round of applause and personally I bow before his courage and great skill!

20 mile commute on an Electric Mountain Bike...

You could try mounting Big Ben Plus tyres if you don't have to ride through too much muck. i.e. they are good on gravel and such but haven't tried them on mud I tend to stay away from the stuff as much as possible...

Commuting to work on ebike in London

I was very disappointed the first time someone said "Oh what a nice looking bike". I had failed my mission... :( But in the city it is in closed parking at the station. The entrance is opposite a police station front door and there is a camera. Now what will I do with the trike? o_O Current...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

The conversion of propane gas bottles to bayonet type took place about 20 years ago here IIRC. It was kind of invisible to users because the screw on ones just went away and you got a free adaptor when you brought in old bottles for recharge at one point in time. My dates may be a bit off...

Which bike for hills for a heavier person?

And when you read the text you see 1015 m long and 100 m gained. On my calculator that is an average 9.85% climb. Yes of course you have 30% ramps in the corners... Oh my! 5 metres at 30%...

    £299 conversion - info c/o ebiketips

Oh well... When you get a trike reversing becomes a thing :D A small cheap motor that can be engaged or disengaged from the tyre seems to be the best solution and as one already has a battery I don't need that... DIY solution ahead I guess.

    Speed Sensor? Torque Sensor?

Yesterday I saw my first ever throttle in use on a pedelec! A young lad walking his dog (not on leash, on the footpath... ) in San Sebastian. No effort to move the pedals whatsoever just your average electric scooter. A 285€ combined fine just waiting for a policeman to happen! :)

    New Online E-bike Magazine

Factor 4 has been round for donkeys years and will work the same way as nominative Watts work now - the controllers will be rated for 350W i.e. 90W x 4 and have a "boost" or "turbo" level which will give 700W. 90W is very probable effort from most "normal" riders, boffins in white coats will put...

Which bike for hills for a heavier person?

So OP how long is your stretch of ramp really? If it is 1600m long there would be a long line of lycras trying to get KOM on Strava all day every day (lycras love pain and suffereing). 25% over 1600m is a 400 metre climb. Unfortunately none of these are over 22% max gradient...
