Go tell that to the Palestinian people 'Danidl'. I'm sure they will understand your point.

Tom
Don't you think that there are plenty of people in those zones who see that as their only hope?. The history of that region shows that sometimes PR is the only weapon

THE JOINT REPORT on phase 1 of Brexit negotiations

(8 December 2017):

==43. The United Kingdom’s withdrawal from the European Union presents a significant and unique challenge in relation to the island of Ireland. … THE UNITED KINGDOM ALSO RECALLS ITS COMMITMENT TO THE AVOIDANCE OF A HARD BORDER, INCLUDING ANY PHYSICAL INFRASTRUCTURE OR RELATED CHECKS AND CONTROLS.

49. THE UNITED KINGDOM remains committed to protecting North-South cooperation and to its GUARANTEE OF AVOIDING A HARD BORDER. Any future arrangements must be compatible with these overarching requirements. The United Kingdom's intention is to achieve these objectives through the overall EU-UK relationship. Should this not be possible, THE UNITED KINGDOM WILL PROPOSE SPECIFIC SOLUTIONS TO ADDRESS THE UNIQUE CIRCUMSTANCES OF THE ISLAND OF IRELAND. In the absence of agreed solutions, THE UNITED KINGDOM WILL MAINTAIN FULL ALIGNMENT WITH THOSE RULES OF THE INTERNAL MARKET AND THE CUSTOMS UNION which, now or in the future, support North-South cooperation, the all island economy and the protection of the 1998 Agreement.==

No, I certainly do not 'Danidl'. The Palestinian people have been abandoned to their fate by the UN, the UK and the USA in particular. That abandonment has led the Israeli monsters to believe they can do whatever they want with impunity and that is what they have been doing with increasing savagery.

And Gibraltar?
Gibraltar needs the UK more than Spain for their tax haven status, so whatever London decides, they'll have to go along with it.

"To most voters, the EU is like a bread-maker: we don’t really understand what it does and we don’t know what to think about it.
The Norway option clarifies matters in a way that does not help Leavers. It is very much like being in the EU, except just a little bit worse. If it becomes a salient possibility, it makes staying in the EU look rather attractive by comparison.
A hard Brexit will probably go quite badly for the UK, but it does have the merit of being a very different path to remaining in the EU. A Norway-option Brexit might well work out smoothly, but it is almost guaranteed to underperform the option of not leaving at all.
No wonder Brexiters — so cavalier about having their cake and eating it before the vote — are now determined to ensure that the Norway option is taboo. They realise that if the British public decides that staying in the single market is a plausible plan, they might eventually reach the conclusion that staying in the EU itself would be even wiser."

If ever an example of why the people of Europe need the EU, it is in the matter of air pollution. After previous warnings, only three states have made sufficient improvement in the matter of air quality while half a dozen others including the UK have failed in that regard.
At least France is among them, as it should be for the way they promoted diesel cars from the outset without any regard for the obvious consequences. It's not commonly known but the first diesel car was a Citroen in the 1930s.

I knew what those consequences would be when France widely adopted them several decades ago and have always refused to own or drive a diesel car. That was even to the extent of threatening to leave a job if the employer didn't immediately change the diesel they'd suddenly issued as a replacement for my petrol company car.

Nothing i have said is in disagreement with what you have written. When one is abandoned, the only hope one has is that history will record the shame of the oppressor.. the UN has not abandoned them, but is ineffective in the light of of a USA veto.
How much worse will it be if there is full blown conflict with Iran, to which Egypt would find itself drawn in. I say these things in the knowledge that the irish Army has UN observers on the front lines between them...
There is an opposition in Israel and it does claim to be a democratic state, so internal dissent might provide the necessary change...

The irony is that france is a large mostly rural country , with plenty of countryside, where the negative effects of diesel is minimal...

Not been to Paris lately then? I stopped going a long while ago because of lung issues.

The whole taxation of petrol to make diesel the only affordable choice for people on tight budgets was never a very good idea. In the 41 years I have been here I have only owned one (1) diesel car and that was when I was living 62 km from my work and thus commuting 1700 km a month.

Actually no I haven't been in Paris for a number of years In our early days coming to France,Le Havre was the port of call, and i detested the air pollution all the way until well south of Paris. But my experience in rural France.. mainly Brittany, is that diesel cars are the most prevalent, and are kept and run for what British people would consider extraordinary lifetimes, not only the more exotic mercedes 190s but the battered Citroens and renaults also.
Even if the air pollution is worse, from these machines than a modern machine might produce, the overall lifetime pollution is probably less when whole of lifetime is considered.
However since 1990 I have been a diesel driver in Ireland. The reasons were multiple. Getting down and back from Dublin to visit parents and inlaws could be done for 5 quid and there were no repair costs on things like exaust systems. The petrolcarsI had had for the previous decade were always having exaust problems
Another reason for me to continue with diesel , is that knowing there are periodic fuel strikes in France, I can keep a stash of diesel safely stored away on my property to get me to any port. I would not be safe doing that with petrol

LPG ??? Your own tank in garden..? ( even diesels can run on a %age of LPG) But petrol converted to LPG is cleaner, cheaper and with modrrn ecu controlled wet systems just about as powerful.???

Putin jokes Sergei Skripal ‘would have died on the spot’ if Russia had poisoned him as the spy is finally released from hospital

Ex-Russian colonel was exposed to Soviet-developed novichok nerve agent in suspected botched Kremlin assassination
He said: “If a military-grade poison had been used, the man would have died on the spot. Thank God he recovered and that he left (hospital).”

Ex-spy Skripal was discharged from hospital today more than two months after the Salisbury nerve agent attack.

The 66-year-old and his daughter Yulia, 33, were exposed to deadly novichok at his home in March in a suspected botched assassination ordered by the Kremlin.

Lorna Wilkinson, director of nursing at the hospital, said: "We have been able to discharge Sergei Skripal.
Det Sgt Nick Bailey, who was among the first on the scene after the March 4 attack, also received life-saving treatment for exposure but was released following a miracle recovery..

Why are they still trying this worn out and discredited nonsense on?
"Exposed to deadly novichok"
Oh sure, Putin told the truth, if they had been they would have died on the spot.

An lpg tank would be a rciepe for vandalized , or theft. 40 litres of diesel is compact, long lived and very discreet. I'm not interested in theoretical solutions just practical ones to my transport problems and BREXIt..

Afraid you are wrong on the long lived with diesel. There are oxidation, water and bug issues. Its probably the worst fuel to store long term ,unless treated with emulsifiers and antioxidants. This is especially case if used on common rail or any very high pressure systems. ( smallest amount of water will destroy injectors)
Suppliers recommend no more than a year and preferably under 6 months...( Google storing diesel)
LPG will pretty much store indefinitely ( no air contact) Petrol will store quite a,while but certainly goes off..( smell changes)
I wouldn't use old diesel on any modern car engine.
During war and for military purposes additives were added to prolong shelf life. Diesel is degrading from.moment it leaves refinery.
Also, during winter months additives are added to prevent waxing. Store summer diesel into winter and you,ll get thick diesel clogging filters and poor starting.
