BBS 1 Cutting out, any ideas?

You may have to wait a little while and fire off a few e-mails with Eclipse. We've had the discussion on this forum before, about how slow they can be at replying. We sort of gathered that they might only be a one or two person company. Doesn't make it acceptable of course, just that they will...

Bbs01 power cutting in out at startup

This one is from BGA Reworking, a respected company for electric bike stuff on this forum. UK vendor too, so quick delivery! Bafang Programming Lead for BBS01, BBS02, BBS03/HD 1.5m cable

Urgent (!) Safety Recall on car

Way way more cool than our British Vauxhall Corsa lol.

Bbs01 power cutting in out at startup

After researching loads about the programming, I think Bafang have included the 'Keep Current' as a energy saving feature. Basically, the controller will provide the motor with as much current as it needs until it gets up to speed, then drops the current level according to the percentage set in...

Urgent (!) Safety Recall on car

Wonder which poor bugger found out the hard way, about the shrapnel firing into the driver

    Advice on a 48v charger.

To put your mind at ease. I regularly charge a Samung 30Q 12Ah pack, using a 48v 2A charger with no cooling fan. It does get rather warm, but has proved ultra reliable for over 2 years. I should imagine most chargers have some kind of thermal overload cut-out, but don't quote me.

Bbs01 power cutting in out at startup

At the end of the day, most electric bike stuff is manufactured in China, which doesn't have the same quality controls as Europe, although they are getting better. I personally don't run my BBS02 with a throttle, as I have reprogrammed the controller to match my gears and riding style with the...

Bbs01 power cutting in out at startup

Drop them a line. They can be a little slow on replies, but the company may only have one or two peeps running it. The programming issue is unlikely as you say, but it's worth it at some stage in acquiring a programming cable, just to tweak the BBSxx just the way you like it. You'll be surprised...

Bbs01 power cutting in out at startup

Fully understand not wanting to dismantle the kit for a warranty claim. The best case scenario is that it is a dodgy throttle. You may be able to negotiate with the seller to replace just the throttle under warranty. If not, they're fairly cheap to buy. The next thing could be poorly programmed...

Bbs01 power cutting in out at startup

I was really trying to suggest that as the throttle overrides the PAS, then any issues with the actual throttle, or programming, no matter how tiny, may cause cut-outs or erratic behavior. I'm making a hash at explaining my thoughts lol. The best thing to do when experiencing issues with a...

Bbs01 power cutting in out at startup

I'm certainly no expert (see d8veh for that), but I was thinking along the lines that the throttle overrides the PAS. If the throttle is a bit dodgy, or the controller throttle range voltage is programmed wrong, then the controller could be seeing it as a throttle input and swapping over to PAS...

Bbs01 power cutting in out at startup

I'm not saying my settings are suitable for your set-up, but I've tried various configs and find the following works best for me. BTW, I have the display on 5 PAS levels. 'Keep Current' to 100% PAS 'Current' settings all to 100% PAS 1 on low speed %, PAS 5 on 100%. PAS 2, 3 & 4, increments...

Try disconnecting the throttle and completing a journey on PAS alone. See if the problem persists.

Not a bad little electric bike for the price!

No, the seller is UK based. Mmmmm, Tuffnells is a sore subject for me. They managed to lose 3 large sacks of cat litter, weighing around 12 kilos each, that I ordered  And you're right, there could be an issue with repair costs or turnaround time with warranty claims. As I mentioned...

Not a bad little electric bike for the price!

Most likely buy a container full of bikes from China. Even with overheads and import fees etc., there's still a nice little profit. D8veh could probably tell us what the Chinese manufacturer knocks these out for. Amazes me how the seller can deliver 26kg of total packaging for less than a tenner.

Not a bad little electric bike for the price!

Agree, although my first ever electric bike was a 24v 9Ah and for a first bike/runabout, did the job admirably.

A few positive reviews and a nice price. Might make a good a little commuter, or for popping to the shops... or pub  e-glide E bike ELECTRIC BICYCLE 20" Folding Bike ** BRAND NEW ** Potential buyers, note the comment about the seat post length though.

need help programming my Bafang BBS01b

You should try changing the 'Keep Current' to 100%, otherwise all other settings will be compromised if that is set any lower.

I know you said it was working fine, but check how much material is left on the pads. The cheaper brake sets, including mine, tend to have excessive lever travel as the pads wear.

    Corrosion Protection Suntour SR forks

I spray my fork stanchions with silicone every now and again, to keep the rust at bay. The cheaper versions, like my XCTs, don't contain any oil, just a spring with an elastomer centre. I filled mine with Motorex Bike Grease 2000, which gave them a smoother operation and will hopefully protect...
