Is rain to blame for BBS01 problems

An interesting one this one. I seem to remember my replacement controller having a rubber sealing gasket, but I can't be 100% sure. Anyone else out there, who have replaced their controller, confirm this?

Is rain to blame for BBS01 problems

Like most things relating to reliabilty on the net, you usually only hear the bad side, not the good. I give my BBS02 motor a good hosing down every now and again and I haven't had any problems with water ingression. I would be more careful about getting the display and remote switch unit wet...

I can't exactly remember, but I think I had similar symptoms when my controller blew!

Is rain to blame for BBS01 problems

Just to add @minexplorer, might be worth taking the controller off again and ensuring the connectors inside are all seated securely. I had running issues when I replaced my controller and it was the white connector inside not pushed home fully.

Is rain to blame for BBS01 problems

I totally agree with your comment. Even I had the notorious controller failure early on in its life, due to inadequate MOSFETs. Luckily Bafang sorted out that issue in later models. The majority of electric bikes have some sort of issue during their life, mainly down to poor Chinese QC. I know...

Is rain to blame for BBS01 problems

You've done everything you can do, without resorting to opening up the unit. I know it will be a pain in the arse removing it, but I would persue a warranty claim for the whole kit.

    Programming cable

Firstly, you can't just reprogram the 48v BBS02 to run on 36v! You'll have to change the controller. Secondly, I bet your bottom dollar that you would use a programming cable more than once, so it's worth 20 quid just to have one in your tool box. Insat make a decent one: Bafang Programming...

    BBSxx throttle software parameters?

Word of warning folks. Don't click 'Write Flash', when you first connect the programming cable, otherwise it writes the default numerical value '10' to all settings. Always click 'Read Flash' first! Easy mistake to make...... honest o_O

    BBSxx throttle software parameters?

Accidentally managed to rewrite the 'Start Voltage (x100mv)' and 'End Voltage (x100mv)' to zero, in the 'Throttle Handle' tab. Does anyone know the Bafang factory set parameters for these please?

Bafang bbs02 chainring shaking please help

Might need the locking nuts, on the bottom bracket axle at the other end, tightening a bit, to remove any freeplay. You can buy a special tool, or you can do what I do and use needle nose pliers.

Good choice for a first meter?

You don't need anything fancy. I still use the Hilka one I bought many years ago. http://www.hilka.co.uk/product_detail.asp?s=34083000

Can anyone shed some light on this?

Most likely there's water on the circuits that hasn't fully evaporated. Can you leave it in a room next to a hot radiator, with a window slightly open to let moisture escape?
