    Rear wheel recommendations please

I have fitted one of these on my bike, and I go off the beaten path quite often. Had no issues with reliability or robustness! https://www.tredz.co.uk/.Tru-Build-26-Rear-MTB-Wheel-Mach1-MX26-Alloy-Double-Wall-Rim-36H-8-9-Speed-Freehub-QR_19156.htm

Any thoughts of converting one of these old Cannondales?

That MTB is just begging for a Bafang BBS01(250w) to be fitted to it. To keep it all legal of course ;) Can't see any problems with fitting, but do your research first, before buying anything!

Reduce drive side bottom bracket to fit Bafang BBS01

No problem. I think I get away with using a 42T, as I run a 48v BBS02 (tweaked slightly), so the extra torque really helps pull in any gear.

ebike batt explodes in to fire ball

Yeah, a bit of a cowboy DIY set-up IMHO. I keep it simple, with short runs of adequately rated wiring, proper connectors, or properly soldered connections, and adhesive lined shrink tubing where required. .... and definitely none of that wiring two batteries in parallel nonsense o_O

ebike batt explodes in to fire ball

I've mentioned in other threads, always always buy good quality battery packs. Like the guy in the video, I am NOT sponsored by EM3EV, but they make extremely high quality battery packs, with safety being their top priority. Don't go cheap on yer battery packs peeps!

Reduce drive side bottom bracket to fit Bafang BBS01

If it were me, I wouldn't compromise that area by cutting bits off, I would fit a bespoke chainring, such as the Lekkie Bling Ring 42T and larger sizes wrap around the final drive housing to improve chainline. Brighton ebikes is a reputable place to buy one in the UK...

    Chain lube

I think the best thing to do is to try different products out, whether it's some expensive lube from one of the big manufacturers, or just some 20 year old oil from the back of your shed. Then decide what works best for you in your individual riding circumstance. I used to use WD40 alot, to...

    Chain lube

Finish Line Dry Teflon Lube, as I ride mostly in dry conditions and it helps stop the chain getting gunked up with trail crud. Easy to wipe chain after every ride and apply more...

    Dodgy 52v Hailong case batteries

H Ha ha, the Beastamatic. That's going back a few years. Not sure if you got my battery, but I remember the biggest issue was one of the power leads, connected to the key switch, kept urrrm disconnecting. It went back to the Sports HQ twice for that problem.

    Dodgy 52v Hailong case batteries

Totally agree. I was trying not to go off topic too far, but that blurb on the EM3EV listing does give some interesting info into why the Hailongs aren't a suitable casing for 52v set-ups. Electric bike batteries are subjected to constant vibrations, which can break the internals over time. The...

    Dodgy 52v Hailong case batteries

Yeah, I wouldn't want to risk my house for the sake of saving a few quid. When it came to buying my current battery, I went for one from EM3EV, as they're regarded as providing top quality stuff. The one I went for was their 48v 15Ah 13S5P LG cell jumbo shark pack. Looks like they don't sell 48v...

    Juddering when braking

Hee hee, it's a funny old game. I'm running Shimano resin pads with Tektro brake discs. Crazy that Shimano pads just don't like Shimano discs  As for juddering being play in the headset, maybe, maybe not. Mine was juddering because the pads were grabbing and releasing at regular points...

    Juddering when braking

I had similar issues with my Tektro hydraulic brakes a few weeks back. First thing to do is to clean the disc and pads with isopropyl alcohol. If that doesn't solve the issue, then you may need to replace the disc and pads, they're cheap enough. Then ensure you properly bed the new pads in by...

Gear sensor - about to give up on it..

It's not as clear-cut as that. I think it also depends on the other components in the set-up. The OP might have a derailleur, chain, cassette combo that just happens to be noisy. So no matter how little power they put through the system, it'll still be noisy. As jarob10 states, it might be a...

Gear sensor - about to give up on it..

Far less outright power through the drivetrain. On PAS 1 on my BBS02, I have it set at approximately the same power as a maxed out BBS01. I can ride using this setting, without the need to use the brake cut-off to change gear. It makes no more drivetrain noise, than riding my bike unpowered. I...

Gear sensor - about to give up on it..

I agree with jarob10, there should be minimal clunking when changing gears with a BBS01. Probably no more noise than if you were running unpowered. I am running a BBS02 with fairly maxed out settings, and even though I use the brake cut-off to cut power when changing gear, on the odd occasion I...

Anyone fitted a BBS02 or BBSHD to a Carrera Hellcat Mens Mountain Bike 2020?

Excellent news, thank you for the replies. @Hangman Did you encounter any problems with gear alignment using the stock Bafang chainring, or did you fit something like a Lekkie Bling Ring?
