The option I guess (if not using brake cutoffs) is to manually turn off the system or activate a throttle only mode prior to the brow but this seems a faff. I would rather keep it simple and know that when I apply the brakes the motor shuts down. Like you quite rightly say though, we all ride differently and maybe I could learn around it. To be fair my Mrs ebike only has 3 levels of assist too rather than the 6 + 3 power of the OD kit which might be flexible enough to work around it.
I have a zero assistance level. I could in your hill example switch to zero assistance on the crest of the hill. In fact I do that when I am in "super battery economy" mode and trying to go the furthest possible. So instead of using a brake cut off switch I am just using the mode switch to do the same job. One less wire and plug to worry about!

Oxydrive are two-wire. You have to identify which side is the signal wire. You could try measuring each to ground. One side should be pseudo 5v and the other ground. You can splice a 5v supply from the throttle for for a hall switch.

Hi Planemo - if you still need a solution to the PAS magnet ring for your hollowtech 2, you may want to check an earlier post (#341) in this thread.

I did see that baldy and it is indeed very neat but is there no way that you could have bored out the centre of your OD one and bonded it to the chainring? I had already ordered up the kit which fits magnets inside the chainring bolts now (to avoid using a magnet disc at all) so I will give that a go but if theres problems then your solution is very neat and will be the next option.

Happy days my kit is here, top class service from oxydrive, I had it the next day.
Well I have made a start and the battery fits just fine, got my old wheel out and put the disk on the new wheel, the drop outs are the right size on my frame so no probs there, just need to find a tool to get the cassette off.

Ran out of time now, so will have another look at it tomorrow if I have time.

Does Oxydrive sell replacement parts for their kit? I can't see it mentioned anywhere on their website. What happens if you need a new battery in 1, 2 3 years time? Are you expected to throw away the kit, buy replacement parts from them or can you combine the motor with an entirely different control unit and battery?

I notice that other sellers such as Wooshbikes advertise batteries, chargers, motors for sale.

All the parts are standard apart from the battery case, so you can mix and match to an extent. Although the controller box is non-standard, it looks like a standard Lishui controller in there, so that opens up a few possibilities too. When the battery does eventually go, there will be better ones then anyway, so you wouldn't want to replace it with the same type.

My kit turned up today as well :)

Looks very nice, and was well chuffed to find that the supplied rear brake lever has a removable reed switch which I can hearshrink and adapt to fit my hydraulic lever. The magnet is bonded on but I reckon I can get that off too so my cut off solution may be sorted!

Yup, that's effectively what I did for my hydraulic brakes, I just epoxied a magnet to my brake lever (couldn't quite prise off the one supplied).
I did attempt to hack the original magnet disc (as supplied) but my clearances where still too tight for a good solution. So I got the new magnet disc which is very thin and clips in behind the smallest chain ring, tight clearance but no rubbing and works great.

Please can you share a close-up photo of the sensor installed on the lever?
My lever or the OD one? I haven't done mine yet.

Baldy, like you I may struggle to get the magnet off without heat which I think weakens magnets. And having had a quick look at my drive side crank I reckon theres enough room, seems odd that yours was too tight. I have two of the plastic shimano spacers in mine between the frame and the bearing, maybe thats the difference.

I tried spacers but as I have a full suspension set up, the space I needed still was not enough. I also had the issue of an offset of the chain set which meant I couldn't get my BB properly hooked up.
These were minor inconveniences really as now everything is nicely set up and consider my trance x is transformed into a haibike/KTM beater (IMHO) as I have ridden full suspension bikes from both camps (albeit on road @ Redbridge event) and my trance feels the most sorted (*biased*)

Its a very nice bike mate and I think your claim of it being sorted is entirely justified. I have been looking for a full sus frame for a while now but have held off until getting the ebike kit due to potential fitment room for the battery. Its good to know the Giant frame works with the OD battery albeit looks snug! I might keep my eye out for a used Trance frame and shock. I tend to err towards Specialized but their frames mostly have shock systems that wont accomdate a frame battery.

20150703_155903.jpg Well this is how far I have got.
Can any tell me how tight you have to have the sensor that fits on the crank, you can still spin my one by hand real easy.20150703_155605.jpg

Tight enough so that it wont move during normal riding I guess. Have to take into account it possibly getting knocked by footwear/branches etc. I find the non drive side to be a bit exposed in general really which is why I want to try and get mine on the other side (apart from it being more stealthy).

Had 5 minutes spare so cut and re-soldered the PAS so I could remove the pipe nut fitting. Of course this isnt necessary but it neither was it a lot of effort. Also removed the magnet from the Tectro lever with 10 seconds of evenly applied heat from a hot air fitting on a gas soldering iron. Doesnt seem to have affected the magnet strength at all. For those that might do the same, dont wait until the epoxy is visibly melted as I found the magnet twisted off easily with a pair of longnose pliers before the epoxy appeared any different from cold.

Sorry, still mixing up my sensor descriptions.... I of course meant the reed switch for the cutoff...
