My Agattu Has Landed

Just had a phone call from 50cycles to say that the Kalkhoff I ordered on Thursday last week has arrived in Loughborough today:eek:
That is much quicker than I expected.
I opted to go and collect rather than have it delivered, so I will pick it up on Wednesday.
I will post some feedback when I have had it for a couple of days.

My Agattu arrives tommorow, but I understand they are not quite as light as was suggested closer to 23Kilos.

Hi, are we talking over 23Kg or under 23Kg? If it is under it is coming down to grams, not a huge amount.
I went on a diet a couple of years ago and lost 30Kg, unfortunately I reckon about the equivalent of an Agattu has crept back on my gutta, partly my reason for getting into electric bikes in the first place.

I would guess yours in the same batch as mine, 1st impartial impressions would be welcomed by all interested parties.

Hi John

Know what you mean :) - couple of kilos one way or the other won't matter to me either!

Looking forward to hearing how you both get on.

Not sugesting anyone should panic buy by any means, but obviously they are in stock, and the price goes up on Saturday. Of course I have no idea how many are spoken for so it might be a case of placing an order at the current price and waiting for the next delivery.
On a slightly different but related issue, I personally don't like having to stump up all the money when simply placing an order. I recently bought a car which cost a shed load of money, but only put down a deposit of 3.5% and could have rejected the car if I wasn't happy with it.

Deposit

I only left a deposit after I found out about the delay.

Anyway you have 7 days cooling off period under the distance selling regulations to reject an item as long as it is in new condition and it has not been specially made for you.

Hopefully this will not be necessary but you are actually better protected buying this way than buying in person.

Hi Chris,
you can call me John by the way, what I said in actual fact was a shed load of money for a car. That is slang for a lot of money:rolleyes:

That is very useful information Daniel regarding cooling off period etc., as you say I am sure there won't be a problem and I find the 2 year guarantee somewhat reassuring.
Can I be cheeky and ask what % you paid upfront? You can PM me if you don't want to post it.

No problem, I paid in full then got a credit of £1000 when I found out about the delay, 50cycles were fine about it. I am sure that people wanting to order a bike in advance could negotiate this with them as it benefits both parties.

I just went for it when I was told it would be less than a week as my credit cards 3 month 4% cashback deal expires in a couple of days.

Just had the following email from Derby Cycles regarding the weight of the Agatt. Looks like there is some confusion here!! Daniel

Thank you for your email.

The "Agattu Pedelec" weights with battery 25,6 kg.

That's very interesting, I wonder what 50cycles might have to say about this, a few grams heavier is one thing, but 3.6Kg is quite a lot. They claim 22Kg inc. battery? Even if they forgot to include the battery, which apparently weighs 2.4Kgs it is still 1.2 Kgs over the claimed weight. This might sound trivial to some, but 3.6KG is equivalent to 3.6 bags of sugar, and I have enough weight of my own to carry without all that sugar as well:eek:

And the original claim was 20.6 kilos, which I doubted was for the dynamo equipped model. If the one I was suppose to be testing turns up some time, I'll weigh it as I have a balance for that.

Disappointing. 25.6 kilos puts a whole new light on this bike, and makes it look less favourable than the old Lafree Twist, though still a bit lighter than the Gazelle.

Well my bike arrives at 7am, I suppose it may be a little awkward to fit on the bathroom scales. any ideas on how to weigh a bike.

Daniel stand on the scales yourself, naked of course, weigh yourself, then pick the bike up whilst on the scales and subtrcat your weight from the total. Sorry if I'm sounding like a pratt, but I am starting to worry.

Presumably the same theory will work with my clothes on and the scales downstairs in the hall with the driver waiting.

Daniel,
It would be great if you could post your result as soon as you have weighed it.
Thanks,

Flecc,
so I gather you haven't received the demo bike yet?

I will weigh it as soon as it arrives.

I am just hoping they have given the packaged weight as this is more than the Raleigh version.

The Pro Connect is on the website at 20.8 kilos they must have used that figure

You could get the driver to hold it for you whilst you get on the scales! The bike I mean. Then give the bike back to him to take back to 50cycles provided the weight doesn't crush you1
