Nice sunny day for it. :)

It looks as though your suspension settings are too hard. You are both only using half of the available travel.

think my front forks need some setting up rebound i think but going down the massive drops and jumps the rear rubber thing fell of the end lol so was using all of that.

its like jumping a tank and landing like one, ppl looked at me like i was nuts lol most never even had brakes or just 1 or no saddles on there dh bikes.

im getting faster tho just cant flick the rear round the tight steep stuff atm, like the bikes to long and heavy for it never crashed tho but came close a few times ruddy tree roots on steep down hill parts are dangerous as hell at speed.

m8 crashed 2 times lol

I wonder how many are using a seat dropper post?
I tried one on one of martins haibike full sus bikes a while ago and thought it to be a bit of a gimmick at the time but have come round to thinking it a good idea when going off road. On road (riding to the woods) I have my saddle fully up so I can get more power down but when things get awkward off road I found that I had to alter saddle height to save me from a pummeling (or hang off the back going down hill with the saddle in my belly).
Question is £200+ for a high end hydraulic dropper or ~£60 for a spring/gravity type?
Any experiences and advice gratefully received.

That's exactly why they're useful and not a gimmick.

My Cube came with the Rockshox Reverb Stealth with the hydraulic cable routed internally and I've been really pleased with it. Always felt a little vulnerable with a saddle in my chest!

It works exactly as I'd expect it to, but I don't have experience of a cheaper version to compare. I genuinely can't fault the Rockshox.

I guess the question is... if I bought a new bike without one, would I spend an extra £200 on a dropper post? The answer to that is 'probably'.

i would miss my dropper post on my bike as always put it down for going down the steep stuff, tho my ass is over the back wheel most of the time.

m8 has to keep stopping to lowers his seat post in forest till he gets his serviced.

if any one wants to go up the forest and dont fancy smashing there bike to bits you can hire a cube bosch ebike for 50 quid for half day.

I don't normally post here, but today I think I'm allowed to.

For various reasons, my off roader has been, well, off the road. I finally found a spare hour or two to fix her up.

I made a few mods while I was about it, and gained enough confidence to ride her up to Woodbury Common. (East Devon)

Hardtail Claud Butler, Bafang CST, 500w/30A controller, 20ah battery on rack.

I only did couple of miles, just to see how she'd go.

As he does, The law of selfies decreed that just after this picture I should fall off. Grazed knees and looking like a knob, a small price to pay.

I recorded today's ride on Strava.

Total ascent is massively different between Strava and Nyon... Nyon has me at around 5,500ft! Why would they be so different I wonder...?

Also, for those of you using your bikes on difficult / rocky terrain, may I ask what tyre pressures you're running?

I went out with about 28psi (per my floor pump and I know they're notoriously inaccurate but it's still a guide) and still feel it's a tad harsh. I reduced the pressures in the field and they felt much better, but 5 mins after I got home my front was flat... pinch flat obviously. :(

Checked the back which was about 18psi (and still ok) so clearly I've overcooked it. Thinking maybe 23psi next time out.

What pressures do you guys run?

I'm running a 29er for reference (Nobby Nics) and I'm around 165lb.
