Certainly a creditable climb. :) I ditched Nyon a long time ago from my bike. I found it just too big and bulky for mtb use.

I've just begun the long process of sorting out and listing my holiday rides.
These two had the highest elevation gain. https://www.strava.com/activities/352218974 Roughly 17.5 miles of climbing, steepest section 38.3% climbed using eco/tour and one short section tackled using sport mode. One and half bars of battery left remaining.

Second one https://www.strava.com/activities/350379081 Roughly 10.9 miles of solid climbing with no let up. Steepest section 49.2% climbed using eco/tour and 1 mile in sport mode. One bar of battery remaining.

I'm 49 years old, weigh 75kg, and consider myself reasonably fit. My battery usage puts into perspective some of the wild claims that I sometimes see in relation to battery V mileage use. I often wonder where these figures come from. Thanks for posting your figures, it's good to read realistic usage. :)

Kinninvie, I'd swap your remote ride area, for my over crowded neck of the woods, with frequent conflict from dog walkers and horse riders. I have permission to ride over nearly 1,000 acres of private woodland with only one right of way to one edge, but forestry extraction is screwing the woodlands up, and I'm having to ride in public domain, and I hate it.

ed how fast do you go through brake pads? seems day up forest has used half the pads at the back already since i fitted new ones 3 weeks ago its eating them on the down hill.

also have to use rear brake more as arm still knackered and cant fully extend it atm :(

think ill up the rear disc to the same as front n see if that helps stoping the thing on steep descents.

The total mileage of my Swiss trip was roughly 200 miles. I lost some ride data, so have to guess it. In that time, I got through nearly two sets of brake pads and the best part of one rear tyre.
Some of the descents were over nine miles long, and because of my possible elbow fracture, I also was hanging onto the brakes more that I should have been. Along with struggling for grip on some of the loose stone ascents, the brake issue of me over compensating with the rear brake, caused premature tyre wear.
Sintered pads would have lasted longer, but I ditched those after just the first ride, in favour of organic. Had the conditions been wet or muddy, I'd have stuck with sintered. I also don't buy into the finned pads deal, and reckon that it is just a sales gimmick on the part of Shimano. I'd sooner buy two sets of pads to one set of finned ones.

so they eat brake pads then as i got sintered ones in rear now just they squeek a lot as riding the brakes a lot and rear tyre seen better days lol ripping it to bits up forest taking chunks out the tread.

dont help slamming on the brakes from 25mph either.

so if i wanted to up the rear from 180mm to 200mm what adaptor will i need?

http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/brake-spares/brake-adaptors?f=2258

just not sure which 1 i will need for my rear calliper.

You need a 203mm rear post to post adapter . Have a look on Fleabay I think Noahandtheo might do one, don't get anything that says is/post which are the common set up. Also don't get a Shimano front 203mm post to post one as that will only do a 180mm rear. Another option is to use long bolts and spacers.

Probably also the angle of the photo, but will you even get a 200mm disc in there? It looks tight on the swingarm.

good point ill have to measure it tho looks like it will.

yeah loads of room ;)

ordered parts so will have 200mm front and 203mm rear just i cant use my right arm braking on steep hills so ride the rear brake nuking the pads ;(

You'll not stop any quicker with a 200 on the rear, just be easier to lock up as the rear lightens up during braking.

n thats what i want so can try flick it round bends fast.

Well compiled ride. :) Also a very healthy distance to have ridden. Sadly I'm having to grab evenings only for my rides, and unusually for me, have been lacking a bit of motivation.

The forest section looks very much like the terrain that I often ride. Off piste is always good, and opens up far more ride possibilities. :)

I can only ride Monday to Thursday and during the day as I have 2 disabled lads at home the rest of the time.

Got some better weather forecast so might head back over the moors next week and do some of the high trails over Fremington.

Finally today I had a ride to Brusselton pit heap where some local riders have made a couple of trails.
Managed to fall off but luckily it was just as I was coming to a halt.
It was a good trail and I reckon I can go a lot faster next time.
I also got to ride UP it as well as luckily there was no one else there.

Spotted a bridleway near Hamsterley village so had a ride down.
It took about 35 minutes in total and I only got lost once
Another lovely looking area. Getting lost is just part of the fun. I've found some very good routes whilst getting lost.

I only had time for short ride this evening and filmed the first sections two mins from my house. Annoyingly, I had the chest mount set up perfectly whilst on holiday, but must have knocked it. Ducking down for countless low hanging branches didn't help either, then I had to stop short and say something about the safety of some children that were with the two ladies at the end of the clip. There is some real weird f**k hanging around in the woods, and I couldn't ride past without warning them.

Not a film clip that I'll be keeping.

I also managed to grab a KOM that I have been chasing for a while. Before jumping to wrong conclusions, this was achieved with no assist. I've sat in joint second with two other lads 1.14 for some time now, and have slowly been calculating ways of getting that top slot. They are all road bike users, so whilst short in length, it is quite an ask on an mtb. In truth I was waiting for a late evening when the roads were wet. There is a dodgy junction mid way that has claimed one poor lads life, and riding it at night would allow for better visibility. The bike also rolls much faster on wet roads than dry, but I thought that I'd give it my best shot to finish off the evening ride. I was actually pretty surprised to find that I'd got it. I couldn't pedal any faster, and the back of the bike was jumping pretty severely trying to stop at the T junction at the bottom of the hill. Getting this was kind of personal, as the guy who is now in second spot, is right up his own backside.

Soundwave, Strava is easy enough to add, and there is a dedicated e-bike heading now which is great.

Looks a good trail.
At least you dont have brambles trying to rip skin from your legs all the time!
Are you still saving up for the other glove? ;-)
