Did the Circuit of Fountains Fell today it goes around Penyghent in the Yorkshire dales. Great route very varied it is 25miles and around 3300ft of ascent. The 5.5 mile climb on grass up Arncliffe Cote is testing. Rode most of the way using eco mode with only upping the power on steep rocky climbs only had 15 miles left when I got back to the car. 2015-08-08 12.19.51.jpg 2015-08-08 12.34.51.jpg 2015-08-08 12.59.34.jpg 2015-08-08 12.59.57.jpg 2015-08-08 13.59.30.jpg

I recorded today's ride on Strava.

Total ascent is massively different between Strava and Nyon... Nyon has me at around 5,500ft! Why would they be so different I wonder...?
Did you calibrate you Nyon elevation before setting off ?

I find the elevation profile from the Nyon matches that from my GPS if I remember to calibrate before setting off. [not aware of how to get the total ascent from the Nyon or the online portal]

I didn't... and I have no idea how to do it. Can you let me know please?

The total ascent figure isn't on the portal (I genuinely think the portal is terrible - I simply can't get my head around Bosch thinking it is fit-for-purpose in any way), but on the customised screens you can select total ascent and descent. The ascent and descent figures are always very close too. Strange the Nyon is so far out... and I presume Strava is accurate as I also took my Garmin today which was within 20ft of the Strava total.

I really do like the Nyon, but it needs some work.

I just read in the paper did in Germany since August there was a massive downfall in electric bike rides.
Now They found the reason; all the bikers are sitting behind Their PC trying to update Their Nyon: ROFLMAO:: Cry:: Whistle:

haha lol ;)

The altitude can be set on the Settings page, on reflection though the actual attitude should not affect the ascent calculation.

Just checked my last ride data and the figure from the Nyon was not that far out [Nyon 800m, Strava 840m]

Sorry about the rude reply, should have counted to 10 before hitting the send button. Most people will agree that the Nyon system has been a bit of a disappointment, we are just hopping that Bosch can make it a bit more useful.
We are fully aware that you are a Nyon hater from your numerous negative posts about it, do us all a favour though and just give it a rest.

Re your rear brake upgrade, I had a look at that part you have ordered and just cant see how that is going to work. Have you check this Sram/Avid mounting bracket chart Its hard to see how you will be able to get a suitable bracket to work with a 203mm rotor [shims maybe?]

If your latest part does not fit it might be worth asking on one of the regular mountain bike forums, where they probably have more experience of this type of upgrade.

You spent £5400 on the base bike, more on customising it and only lock it with a pound land cable lock? I don't know about balks of steel, I think nucking futs is more accurate. Do you want to keep the bike?

Here you go - 1 lock that an angle grinder wont get through (the top lock:p).

Here's another lock that would protect your bike nicely: :D

CCTV does nothing to protect your bike, nor does a computer chair, and a samurai sword certainly can't be classed as a tool to be carried with good reason so you get arrested for just moving outside the house with it. Definitely for threatening anyone with it.

Although being serious - this is more what I was expecting you to use:

I came down a steep descent and I roasted the 180mm disc so that it would make the sound of a whale seeking a mate whenever I wanted to slow down. I asked my dealer if it was possible to increase the size to 200mm to provide greater cooling but they could not get it to fit. I replaced the disc with another 180mm and am more careful now. I am not sure how a bigger disc will give you greater stopping performance as the contact area will be identical, perhaps some slight torque advantage. For greater grab go sintered.

I think soundwave is right. Although the contact area may be the same the force required at the edge of a larger disc is less than that of a smaller disc.

Think it must work like this unless we'd all have tiny discs.
