"Hundreds of people have signed up for the chance to own an electric bike as part of a project to change the way people travel in and around Shrewsbury.

The Shrewsbury Moves eBike subscription scheme was launched by the Shrewsbury Big Town Plan Partnership, providing the opportunity to rent a bike at a heavily subsidised cost – and more than 450 people have applied.

The response has been so great that an initial 120 eBikes are now being introduced, rather than the original plan of 100."

That's not a bad scheme. The bikes are pretty good standard Chines bikes, and it works out at around £250 for the first year. I wonder who has to pay for servicing and wear and tear, or if it gets nicked?

"Inverness e-bike scheme suspended with most bikes out of action following "obscene amount" of vandalism"

By November they are up and running again. I wonder who paid the damage bill and will it happen again!

Not much to do in Inverness when the H runs out, Cardiff more surprised by given it's a big cultural city, they've had a few schemes here and for sure I've seen more than a couple of them in the canal and basin behind the mighty Firhill but mostly they are left alone.

A FOI might tell you how much public money was invested then written off.

Government plans to give more power to Mayor of London to regulate e-bikes and e-scooters
However, there are concerns about how ‘efficient’ Transport for London will be - given the delayed plans to regulate pedicabs in the capital

"According to Cllr Hug, Westminster has the most e-bike journeys in the world with over 2,800 bikes per hour peddling around its streets per hour at peak times. There have also been 630,000 bike trips around Westminster every month over the last six months while 360 parking bays have been installed by the council."
