Man dies after losing control of his e-bike

"The cyclist, 34, was riding a black Beatbike Toba electric pedal cycle downhill along Bacup Road towards Clough Foot at about 18:20 BST, West Yorkshire Police said.

Officers said he lost control and suffered a serious head injury and was pronounced dead at the scene. "

"High spec e-bike engineered by Kalkhoff"

Low spec rim brakes. Was that the reason he lost control?

Japan cracks down on use of rideable electric suitcases amid tourist boom
Riders of motorised luggage – popular in parts of Asia – require safety equipment and a driver’s licence, according to Japanese law

"Under Japan’s traffic laws, the woman’s suitcase, which can travel up to 13km an hour, is categorised as a “motorised bicycle”, the same as some mopeds. The police reiterated to the public in June that licenses are required for such mobile luggage."

"An open letter organised by national shared transport charity Collaborative Mobility UK (CoMoUK) is calling for the new Labour government to ‘urgently’ legalise e-scooters, saying it is the only way to resolve the problems caused by “entirely unregulated” privately-owned e-scooters being ridden on public roads."

"A pensioner who travelled 215 miles to buy an electric bike was stunned when it was stolen in the three minutes he left it locked outside a cafe."

"He chained the Specialized Turbo Vado SL eBike in front of the cafe and specifically asked staff for a table outside as he wanted to keep an eye on it. But in the few minutes it took to place his order at the counter a thief used heavy bolt croppers to break the lock and ride off with the bike. "
