Saying that Kalkhoff are proper bikes, and at these discount prices I dont really understand why people buy horrible and heavy old Chinese bikes that look like over sized children's toys:confused:
Good point Eddie, though a few of the Chinese products are now both good and low priced. The new £750 eZee Sprint models that is selling now are a good example:

I was talking about a particular abomination, but can not speak its name:p

I have always liked Ezee bikes and it was my first choice of e bike back in the day...:)

problem at the time was change of dealership and I had no confidence in the Brighton outfit...BUT! now that is in charge! some high end bikes please, for the discerning pedal meister's among us?

I think you will find Eddie that the word you are looking for is TONARO......and dont you think they cant be that bad...after all if Ezee Cyclezee stocks them as well......and you obviously think he has good taste !

I have always found Ezee to be unattractive machines and they don't seem to have moved on any over the years. Their kit, like any other kit, fitted to a bike with European styling notes would be preferable to my eye.

Fortunately, there are some good-looking bikes being marketed out there and while they might be constructed in the east, their designs were penned elsewhere. Thank God for German and Dutch bicycle designers!

Hi Indy, if I may be so familiar,

I would be the first to admit that eZee bikes and kits are not revolutionary, more evolutionary, continually improving in reliability, quality of components and manufacture, offering good value for money.

Just to correct one thing Eddie, I'm not in charge, merely a disciple at this stage.

If you want something special, high end, and bespoke you could have one of these built to your own specification http://www.ezeebike.com/Torq_T1.pdf

Perhaps this one and it's stepthru sister might be considered as a nominees for LIMITED BUDGET electric bike of 2012;)

It's got to be a strong contender, an eZee model at this price level.

Here is probably our next bike, a 29'er wheel Haibike XDurO (if I can convince the wife:confused:)

I realise that I am probably not really a strong enough cyclist to take full advantage of the Bosch system, and probably a hub motor bike suits my far from fit condition better...BUT I like these crank bikes, as they feel much more like natural cycling, so I will persevere:D

Why not do both? The Flyer X can with it's full equipment, and for extended off road use the carrier and mudguards can come off as Eddie's video showed.

Dont mind the proper off road mud, but if you ride on the towpaths and cycle routes, how about all the dog crap etc that otherwise gets thrown up your back and face.

I tried a good few ebikes before choosing the 905sel Wisper. for my style and fitness there wasn't anything better. Its powerful and well made. I am concerned though, yesterday I was told that the motor may be too powerful to be legal. The shop says its fine, can anyone confirm this is true or not?

The 905sel is definitely legal. I believe I'm correct in saying that David Miall of Wisper has had these bike approved under EN15194 certification which includes the motor's power test for legality.
