its hard enough to get anyone on here to part with more then a grand, let alone £4000 for a bike with £170 forks .......But then the PC were never rated much for comfort
At the end of the day Eddie, Derby Cycles/Kalkhoff are the giant of German bicycle and e-bike manufacturing, while most of those fitting the Bosch units are the tiddlers. In all markets the little men often do make very fine products, our own Cytronex for example, but it doesn't necessarily make them grow big. As Tim and Dave have both indicated above, it's what sells most eventually that counts. The unique mix of features and large range of models that Kalkhoff have brought to the 2012 market should have very wide appeal. Priced from £1395 to £3995 here with a choice of three crank-motor types, and a wide range of battery choices from 8 Ah to 24 Ah, most will find what they want. They won't find that wide range of choice anywhere else and I'll be surprised if they come off second best overall to any other premium brand.

Fair enough, but you are not buying their output. Huge numbers seem happy with them, enough to keep them as the biggest manufacturer. Most of the output from the main car manufacturers bores me, as it does many others, but that's what sells.

Hi Tilson

Thanks for putting one of our bikes on there but we no longer sell the Pro Connect Disc 8G, we have sold out and the Proconnect is only available in the Sports models in 2012. Maybe you could run the poll again now all the different brands have launched their 2012 range. Oxygen has also had many improvments for the new season.

Could you please submit these more desirable bikes if money was no consideration.

Electric Bikes - Commuting - 2012 Kalkhoff Agattu Premium C11 ...

or

Electric Bikes - Comfort - 2012 Kalkhoff Agattu C8 Impulse

or

Electric Bikes - Sport - Kalkhoff Pro Connect BS10

and finally

Electric Bikes - Sport - 2012 Kalkhoff Pro Connect XTR S10

Thanks

Scott
The bikes which made it onto the voting list were nominated by various forum members. It's too late to re-run the vote. The moment has passed.

All that I can say about Kalkhoff / Panasonic is, 10000 miles, very little maintenance, 36 month old battery still comfortably capable of 20 mile round trip and bike scrubs up like new.

I don't care about motor voltage, what the Germans are buying or any other similar irrelevancies. The Kalkhoff bikes are well made, last a long time, ride very nicely and I think that they look good too. There may or may not be other brands which equal or better these standards, but whatever the true situation is, you cannot deny that Kalkhoff deliver on all these fronts. I'd have another one tomorrow if this one broke........which it won't.......hopefully.

I saw a review of an S class pro connect where owner had to pay out for new set of forks because the standard ones rubbish. While people remain snobbishly blind to these failings, and prepared to spend £££££ for bikes with crap equipment, while at the same time ignoring and speaking detrimentally about other choices that they are to lazy to even demo...well it is pathetic

I haven't seen anyone speaking detrimentally about the Bosch bikes Eddie? Some just like what they've bought, as in Tillson's post above

That's not at all detrimental Eddie, he's just saying those things are irrelevant to him, he's not criticizing any bike. Surely not being able to express one's personal preferences would be censorship?

Thanks Tim but bike to heavy at 25kg and I want a legal bike really not an S class.....I am risk adverse.

Tony, who's talking about censorship! a bit of enthusiasm and open mindedness would be nice, balanced with an interest in developments......... Thankfully enough enthusiasts on here to keep things going

topic for tomorrow: The Bofeili crank drive

All that I am saying is that if the bike performs to my liking, I don't care if the performance is achieved by utilising a 1 or 100 volt motor. It works, that is all that matters. Similarly, I am not swayed by the choice of bike from gentlemen who wear cycling helmets garnished with a spike on top. It makes no difference to whether I like it.

They no longer sell the eZee range either, but have no scruples about featuring them extensively on their web-site in order to compare them unfavourably with the Kalkhoff range.

This has been mentioned time and time again..it is absolutely shameful trying to damage a competitor in such an underhanded way...Shame on you 50 cycles, grow up and remove the Ezee references....

It used to be Wisper Google searches that 50cycles linked to, but David Miall sorted that out once it was brought to his attention. A robust approach to 50cycles should solve this problem for the eZee brand.

I know that I could never buy from (or have any other dealings with) a company with this kind of attitude; it is just so unprofessional, not to say petty. I remember how they praised eZee bikes to the skies in the days when they supplied them and before they fell out with the manufacturer.

Whoa there! I didn't know these pages were still active on our present site, I thought they were long gone. I've turned them off now. We're moving over to an all-new website platform soon and there'll be no references on there at all. We still receive calls about eZee bikes and cheerfully pass customers on to Onbike for new batteries, etc. Most of them seem to be running well after all these years but the number of bikes we had to replace for people when we were selling them was crazy.

Hmmmmm....about time too.....this is certainly not the first, or indeed third time this has been mentioned on this forum......but, better late than never.......I do think this 'oversight' on your part has done you more harm than good though.......

Perhaps you should make amends by spreading enquiries around a bit...... maybe a bit closer to home.....Cyclezee ?
Who, I believe keep a good stock of Ezee batteries in.......as well as the bikes and kits.....

I agree. I've recently taken a long look at the 2012 Impulse models. Just a shame that the weights are heading skywards. Rules them out for me as I carry my bikes on the roof of my vehicle with a max of 20kg excluding battery. Clearly, the Kalkhoff Impulse is not aimed at the leisure market. I accept that. Still a pity though.
