UK electricity generation via gas was about 38% in 2020? Can't wait to see how much money Octopus Energy automatically removes from my bank account next month...

I doubt we would be able to cope with this, due to such software being unable to anticipate the vagaries of human attitudes. The corrections would be forever firefighting after widespread offence was caused. As we know from current hysterias, it only needs a few to take offence to whip up a major scale of it.
.
Or a glaring headline whipping up panic buying in the Daily Heil , Dur Sturmer, Torygraph and Sun

What the strategy is is simply to work with partners as happens now and offer perks like this to attract business

". We will also launch a review of options to consider a lower limit of operator liability for in-orbit operations and alternative insurance models to support the needs of small satellite operators.

Nothing whatever in the so called strategy equates to our efforts amounting to a dynamic "British" enterprise

Here is the link
National Space strategy
Just another dangerous con trick, and being owned by the USA in the form on Nasa
The pollution will be a problem.

Taking the journey as vertical from ground to orbital altitude, what is the mpg of these satellite launches?

A temporary exemption will never happen for several reasons, chief among them is that trailers don't have any rear tow hitch provision or anywhere suitable to fix one for an additional trailer.
I was implying the use of precisely what I pictured. Not adding danglers to existing vehicles.

On our roads?! Or even many European country's roads out of the question

Even in Australia where they've always had road trains, they only operate outside of towns and cities to fringe depots, never go into them.

That photo was doctored anyway, the tractor unit pasted in was a joke, it'd never get that lot moving and couldn't stand the weight of the front of the first tank.

Guardian actually supportive of something UK government has been involved in. That's a new one.
I'm totally in support of China in this issue. They have an absolute right to have enough defence forces protecting their home area of the pacific, while the warmongering Americans have absolutely no right whatsoever to assume they are the ones to police it and the rest of the world.

We've been 75 years without a healthy balance of world power and the sooner China achieves it in the pacific, the better. The USA needs to learn some genuine respect for others, but if not, respect through fear will have to suffice.

I opened a letter from the Department of Health and social care just an hour or so ago saying that we no longer need to shield in future, they are ending the shielding program.
I hope they haven't sent one to Corinne who lives next door but one
Her husband who was double vaccinated when we were passed away of Covid last Saturday in HRI.
The disorganised crime syndicate running this country should be arrested

I think we will have to put up with China expanding their defense spending. Their industrial capacity has already surpassed USA's. We should really stop spaffing money up the proverbial wall. What would our submarines do in the China Sea? Time for our Navy ruling the waves is well and truly over.
BTW, did you watch Kier Starmer's speech?
I thought he did a good job. It may take two elections to beat the conservatives but I think he can.

Absolutely, by sending our aircraft carrier there with us having to rely on a US destroyer in the escort fleet because we haven't enough ships is more likely to make the Chinese laugh than be fearful.

The first general election could be possible if the Tories mess up much more. But it will continue to be choosing the least bad choice rather than the best choice, such is the state of our political parties.

I really hope you are right flecc, because if China decides to be belligerent can't see anybody actually capable of stopping them.
Don't think many of us actually understand the economic, military and political power China can now call on. Official figures claim their defence budget is one third of USA... In reality I bet its double.
Its fine having an isolationist stance whilst it's not affecting us... Might be a bit different in a few years?? Trouble is I don't think anybody can guarantee or even fully know Chinese intentions... Its very subjective at moment. Let's hope it stays that way.

Starmer hasn't got a hope,
He doesn't look like he can cope,
His wife won't be receiving a victory erection,
After the disastrous results of the coming election.

You, ve sort of hit it in a nut shell. The only labour candidate folk would actually have faith in is Charles Clark.. Always thought he came over capable and electable. He was speaking last night and made sense, but all that gets ruined when McCluskey and Starmer appear.
I don't know what it is about Labour MPs at moment but something is missing.. Not sure how to describe it.
Take Tory naughty boys Archer and Portillo for example. Yes, both been stupid and caught doing things they shouldn't but their demeanour, class or attitude seems to overshadow their wrong doings. Starmer could be as clean as a whistle and he still wouldn't attract voters.
Think back to old Labour, the likes of Wilson, Attlee etc... They had it in spades. A trustworthyness beyond their failings. (which both had)
I, m sorry to say it but I couldn't bring myself to vote for any Labour MPs at the moment. They just repel voters by nature. Nandy, Rayner, Corbyn, Starmer??? And that's before we talk about factions, broken parties, anti semitism. They just make Tories look way better than they are.
Charles Clark and the clever Milliband should be running show. Might stand a chance then.
When a labour MP openly threatens to beat a journalist over the head with a baseball bat, Rayner comes on calling folk scum and Starmer fails to criticise either what chance do they have. None.
At moment Labour seem more akin to a Cult rather than a political party. Listening to delegates at PC yesterday, watching behaviour only reinforces that.. If you are in the cult... Fine... If not, they hate you and everything you stand for. Our country will never vote for that.
I disliked Rayner's comments but at least she was honest. Suspect many Labour MPs, and supporters, think exactly same way. Vast majority of voters are simply repelled and appalled to point of voting Tory, as bad as they are. The whole party needs to moderate and represent voters and stop preaching and hating.

I'll still vote for that clown,
But doing so will make me frown.
