There's no evidence the Oxford vaccine causes blood clots. So why are people worried?
there are other factors beside those connected with the injection like fear of the needle. Such as age, adjuvants and the adenovirus itself.
The adjuvants are there to stimulate our body's defense system. Some people may have an allergic reaction.

I’ve noticed that after I had my AZ vaccine on Friday, Mrs Harrison’s cat, which lives next door but one, was sick on my lawn! Should the EU now suspended all AZ vaccination until the link between the two events is proven to be broken?
No, but they should stop the Cat vaccination program even if it puts a dent in the Much admired numbers of the public with only 50% of the little pricks they should have had already ;)

Standard practice is to aim for the front chest and if this was the case, the police officer
would have been stood in front of the car.
Not in this case. The victim was shot into the brain at point blank range from the side of the car.

I dont even agree on what would happen to a bullet aimed down into an offside tyre from alongside. The weapon was the small belt-holstered pistol the diplomatic protection officers used at that time (1960s), not remotely like the weapons they now carry.

Different era different rules back then. Police firearms regulations are much tighter these days.
Of course. Seeing any police officer with a firearm was extremely rare back then when our police were internationally famous for never being routinely armed. Those little pistols were all I ever saw back then, working in the area in some of the premises concerned.

The whole point of my post was that the officer acted illegally so wasn't keeping to any rules.

This will upset someone

Ireland suspends Astra Zeneca jabs.
And this hasn't helped

"The number of cases of blood clots reported is lower than the hundreds of cases that would be expected among the general population, AstraZeneca’s chief medical officer Ann Taylor said.

Whose side is she on?
So we can conclude from that statement they are quite happy, and pleased the collateral damage fell below their expectations?
Why didn't she finish with "even during non-pandemic and no vaccination program times."
She should have taken Hagrid of Harry Potter fames self advice
"I should not have said that!
I should not have said that!"

What a thing to say! in the Company I worked for a gaffe like that would have led to Security accompanying you through the front door onto the street

I can’t see what’s wrong with her statement. Every medical intervention comes with a degree risk, from taking an Aspirin to a heart & lung transplant. There will be expected risks with the AZ vaccine and I see this lady’s statement as saying the risk in reality seems to be lower than the theoretically expected risk.

Vaccination is not risk free. People will die or get seriously ill as a result of being vaccinated. Those numbers will be tiny, the number of lives saved will be massive. That’s the deal.

We are seeing more hesitation, indecisiveness and fannying about in the EU. That is a bigger threat to its citizens than any vaccine side effects.

If I were AZ, I’d be diverting all stocks destined for the EU to Africa where it will be put to good use. This is all born out of anti-U.K. / Brexit payback spite. I know from my friends and relatives who live there that people are generally livid about the dismal performance to get vaccine delivery rolled out.

Well there are two answers here..
1. The AZ is a blood thinner.
2. People are not filling up the problem sheets.

I really hope this is his fully independent and deeply considered opinion. No reason to suggest otherwise! But in these days of suspicions...

There's no evidence the Oxford vaccine causes blood clots. So why are people worried?
David Spiegelhalter

That article contains a blatant error in this text:

"It’s a common human tendency to attribute a causal effect between different events, even when there isn’t one present: we wash the car and the next day a bird relieves itself all over the bonnet. Typical."

The two are connected by the well established causal effect. The curved shiny panels on a clean car act like the convex distorting mirrors we have for amusement in various locations, making us appear fat. As a bird flies over it unexpectedly see's a larger image of itself suddenly appear below, giving it a fright, and all birds instantly relieve themselves with any fright to lose weight and speed their flight away from the danger.

I hope you are correct. But I will state it is no anti UK spitefest. The UK as such does not figure.
I am now .. post September on a regime of two blood thinners, two heart pills a Statin , a stomach pill and a couple of others. If one reads the blub, in each packet of the linked side effects , and believed them ,you would be afraid of going to sleep or getting up.... The risks of 1:10, 1:1000, 1:10,000 are all listed .
Even the apparantly simple procedure I had in September had risks, ..a 2% fatality rate.

We simply do not know how this new vaccine interacts with pre-existing medicines .
What is not been widely reported is that there were numbers of lesser serious blood clotting incidents in Ireland also.

I am speculating that there might be a defect or difference in the EU manufacturing process of the AZ,which is missing in the original UK product.. different subcontractor ingredient , so figuring this out quickly is very important.
Meanwhile you have missed the import of what that woman said..or did not say. Unless the UK product has a magic ingredient, it should have the same incidence of blood clotting as in the general public, so a failure to report this as a side effect event after an experimental vaccine has been administered,is a failure of process . Or potentially worse... Suppression of data.

Seems some on here want to search and latch on to whatever negative aspects about vaccine they can find.
Had a report sent from Midi Pyrenes magazine, which sums it up quite well.
I,ve attached it, can't send link.

It's a bit mixed but general points
334 million vaccines World wide, . 30 problems with blood clots. Would those 30 have had clotting problems anyway. It's a fairly common complaint, millions and millions are on blood thinners for a reason.
Makes point their appears to be a direct correlation between many things, when there is not. (Eg, increase in organic food matches perfectly increase in autism cases. Should organic food be banned? Care must be taken from both stand points.
Topically, initial reports said Marvin Hagler had died post vaccine with reaction, complications. Family had to release statement "Marvin was taken to hospital with severe chest pains and breathing difficulties, it was not connected at all to vaccine, he hadn't had one"..What an appalling liberty to take by anti vaxxers at such a terrible time.
Again, it's dangerous for us to jump to conclusions, which I think the governments suspending vaccine are doing. Interestingly the medical associations advising the 4 (or is it now 5?)governments taking that stance have advised against it. Who, EMA, Mhra, JVCI, and AZ all say vaccine is safe. Again, leave it to them. I suspect there is a lot of political shaninigans and catering to social media in name of popularity by the 4 governments.
Imagine how our governments would modify their stances if enough folk in country took same stance as OG, Flecc and a few others. Leave it to the experts.

It's amazing how you jump to conclusions without actually understanding what I post
The point of my post was that making unguarded statements like the one this woman made can be construed in entirely the opposite way to what was intended, and deter the take up of the vaccine.
Surely if you think about it and read it again without your usual set attitude at work you could see what I was getting at?
But no, you saw it as an excuse to launch the all too familiar attacks .
What is your problem? and quite clearly you have no idea exactly what my stance on this vaccine is which is supportive of it's use.
So Zlatan in your habitual habit you jumped to a conclusion exactly the same way JHC did
Please try to keep up, not make up with the discussion. and launch into the usual boring sermon and whataboutery

Trouble at the top?
"
Former Remain and Leave groups have united in opposition to the government's Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill.

Opponents of Priti Patel's latest act of legislation include Richard Tice - former chairman of the Brexit Party and Leave Means Leave - and Tom Brufatto, former leader of the People's Vote marches and co-director of March for Change.

After four years of disagreement over Brexit and a second referendum, the campaigners have buried the hatchet to unite against the government’s plans to limit political protests.

Campaigners say that despite their “different political views”, they “stand shoulder to shoulder to defend our right to express these views”.

Those behind the open letter, also signed by Best for Britain of Naomi Smith and the European Movement's Anna Bird, were all able to conduct large scale demonstrations in London and across the UK peacefully and safely under existing legislation.
