I don't think that is the way it should be read. More a case of the lymphocyte levels only rise to half the level otherwise expected.
There's a joke in there somewhere
Is this in any way connected to the question Daveboy was asking for a friend? :D

Aha! I've figured out what happened the clue is here
"Dr Ronx Ikharia took blood samples before and after drinking three glasses of Prosecco. She found the quantity of alcohol was enough to reduce the levels of white lymphocyte cells in the blood by half. "

I wonder what results she would have got if she hadn't drunk three glasses of Prosecco?
Apparently it doesn't improve your eyesight either!

Talk about doing a test the hard wayo_O
Does Sekt or Cava or Champagne have the same effect? Pink or white? Or even red!

I think we should be told.

You should be pretty safe with London Beer

I remember during one hot summer going into a pub there and some joker had pinned up this sign

Dear Customer
You may have noticed a change in the flavour of the beer
During the water shortage we are having to serve it just as it comes from the Brewery
:D

I think it was the bubbles that destroyed the lymphocyte cells. Still wine would have been fine, and fizzy water just as bad.

London beer is usually so flat they serve it in an envelope. That’s my experience based on one pub twenty five years ago.

If we knew, in detail, why these viruses end up being effectively seasonal, we might be able to use that knowledge to reduce their impact.

I noticed in a news clip some hotel had what looked like UV light-based anti-Covid/anti-virus devices in its halls. Do they work? Are there other approaches we could use?

(Yes, I know excessive UV can cause eye and skin problems and, via ozone creation, breathing problems. But choosing precise frequencies, intensities and using in enclosed devices, we might have a usable approach.)
Go all out for global warming... ;-)

As for UV hard to get that into lungs and shdowy areas. Was it a Trump hotel?? “Supposing you brought the light inside the body”

The Fascist "Sell off the NHS" gang have been at it again
"
NHS has been 'nothing special' during the pandemic says free-market think tank which claims it does not deserve 'adulation' as it has not helped Britain cope any better with coronavirus than other countries

The so called "Institute for Economic Affairs" is of course another one of those Tory Donor outfits

Just how special has the non-NHS healthcare sector of the UK been?
