Macron said (in English):
"the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine was "quasi-ineffective" for over-65s ".
The German Vaccination authorities said pretty much the same the day before.
The point is the small number of incidences, it's like the buses.
You may see two No 9 buses and one No 10 arriving within a few minutes, that does not mean No 9 has twice the frequency of No 10.
You need to consider the margin of confidence. On the face of it, the world spends billions and billions on vaccines that are first generation of new technology, rushed through without any legal protection for recipients, based on what? one case of hospitalisation against two if doing nothing? (66% efficacy).
Macron urges caution.

Macron said:
“The goal is not to have the biggest number of first injections ... When you have all the medical agencies and the industrialists who say you need two injections for it to work, a maximum of 28 days apart, which is the case with Pfizer/BioNTech; and you have countries whose vaccine strategy is to only administer one jab, I’m not sure that it’s very serious.”

There again, he is not talking rubbish.
I listened to Professor Bell talking this morning. In a nutshell his opinion is that the Oxford vaccine is highly effective in protecting from hospitalisation and fatal outcomes across all ages. He is also of the opinion that Micron is playing a political game and that there is no room for this approach during a global pandemic. He stopped just short of calling him a fool. I would not have done.

No vaccine is 100% we know that. People like Bell have the knowledge, experience data and close contact with proceedings to draw these conclusions.

Please don’t listen to the leprechaun. You have seen first hand how easily he is confused, how frequently he misinterprets information and how often he is wrong. Normally it doesn’t matter, but this is a case of public health, you must listen to those with the expertise and knowledge.

I’ve said many times that no one is safe until we are all safe. That means everyone, everywhere vaccinated. So only a bitter & twisted communist infused mind could arrive at such a ridiculous conclusion.
Oh dear now I'm a communist?
You really are amusing and I haven't said anything contrary to that at any point have I?
Again I urge you to actually read and try to understand my posts

Jesus OG that is good from you..
Your idea of reasoned debate is be polite to all those that agree with your point and call those that don't thick.. In its own way reasoned I suppose. Depends what you mean by reasoned...
And what pray are you doing right now?
Come off it! you are one of the worst for being downright rude

Not Anarchist? I'm flattered
And quoting a member of the Bells?
Even I would be cautious about quoting one of the clan!
Professor Bell is a Canadian Bell.

My understanding is that Macron did say pretty much that, but the German's made a very different statement that there was no evidence for effectiveness (because the way the trials were run).

There are people who reject Statistics, there are those who believe them and there are a few, very few who understand them.

Germans injected people with petrol not so long ago.

I urge you all to listen to Professor John Bell from Oxford University. He’s got the measure of Micron and that Kraut woman.

Bell is very confident that the Oxford vaccine is extremely effective and that the afore mentioned EU clowns are playing politics to deflect anger away from their derisory performance.

That’s all there is to it.

...... and there are those who think they understand statistics, misinterpret statistics and then **** everything up.

Oxford University has done extensive research, tests involving thousands of people and compiled masses of data. Some of the country’s best statisticians have analysed that data and it has be shared for independent corroboration. All agree that this vaccine gives a very high level of protection from serious illness and death. It has then been reviewed by the U.K. licensing authority, who also agree with the other two.

It is totally preposterous that a ridiculous leprechaun with a proven track record of frequent mistakes should appear on a bicycle forum and try to cast doubt on the vaccine effectiveness. Pretend that he’s identified a statistical trend which has escaped some of the best minds in this field :D The same applies to the vicious oily french pigmy’s attempts to undermine confidence.

It’s really important to win over people who are nervous or sceptical about vaccination. The leprechaun’s showboating and the pigmy’s antics work against this object.

So, you are being a knob-head. Stop.

But OG thinks same, they must be right. There isn't anything our friend from Hull doesn't know.
