Macron said (in English):
"the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine was "quasi-ineffective" for over-65s ".
The German Vaccination authorities said pretty much the same the day before.
The point is the small number of incidences, it's like the buses.
You may see two No 9 buses and one No 10 arriving within a few minutes, that does not mean No 9 has twice the frequency of No 10.
You need to consider the margin of confidence. On the face of it, the world spends billions and billions on vaccines that are first generation of new technology, rushed through without any legal protection for recipients, based on what? one case of hospitalisation against two if doing nothing? (66% efficacy).
Macron urges caution.
Macron said:
“The goal is not to have the biggest number of first injections ... When you have all the medical agencies and the industrialists who say you need two injections for it to work, a maximum of 28 days apart, which is the case with Pfizer/BioNTech; and you have countries whose vaccine strategy is to only administer one jab, I’m not sure that it’s very serious.”
There again, he is not talking rubbish.
