I remember that era and before very well. In the 1950s and early '60s drink and driving scarcely got a mention, it wasn't considered a problem. Of course there weren't many cars back then.

Each Saturday I'd drive up to the West End for the evening and park my car in Piccadilly Circus by the railings between Regent Street and Shaftesbury Avenue. That was no bother then with few cars on the roads and no parking controls of any sort. Imagine trying that now!

Time to test that famous tolerance I've been told I lack

Perth choir
As I recall that "tolerance" consisted of thinking "we" are wonderful, the chinese are weird, gays and ethnic minorities are too vocal and, in case I left it out, that "we are wonderful". In other words, english tolerance - the type that was the backbone of slavery, gave the world concentration camps, the iraq war and last but not least brexit. Reminds me of visiting Greece and hearing an english tourist say the locals arent civilised because they cant speak english..

They've managed Johnson well.

The gaffes have been overwhelming overshadowed by the negatives thrown at Corbyn.

Labour were never ready.

Would never be ready to win with him.

BREXIT on the BRINK: Leavers urged to use tactical voting site or ‘we lose it ALL’
BREXITEERS will be told how to make their ballot paper count in the election using a tactical voting website. Unite2Leave will allow Leavers to see which Brexit-backing candidate has the greatest chance of winning in each constituency.

It is JC's new suit that's done it!

Of course, leavers will utterly reject any suggestion they need to be told of this. They already know for whom (and what) they are going to be voting.

Lewes is a marginal Tory/Lib Dem seat

Poor woman hadn't a clue what she was taking about, then went out of the wrong exit into a locked yard full of rubbish bins.
Ah well somehow that's appropriate to Brexit supporters

Ye Gods!
In case anyone missed it (it wasnt reported on BBC News...) Raab has sent the Vietnamese families bills of £2,000 each to get the bodies back of those who died in the lorry...

I'd like it to be known that *this* is normal life in the part of Vietnam that the Vietnamese who died in the lorry came from (Nov 2016 my pic from when I was there). 1) How can they possibly pay £2K each for repatriation of bodies? 2) What sort of regime would demand this fee?

A Conservative one of course

I see there is a gofundme appeal - which I want to support.

But the idea that my contribution would end up funding Raab's department (or, at least, reimbursing) sticks in my throat.

(Just checked, UK councils paid an average of over £1400 per "pauper's" funeral. So it would have cost most of that money had they not repatriated the bodies.)
