I`ll ask the same question again in light of the latest EU statement - What`s happening at the Border then ?? What preparations have been made there?? Or will we just settle for a free for all?

"The European Commission has today confirmed it has “completed its no-deal preparations”.
In a press release from the EU’s executive body this morning, Brussels declares “it is increasingly likely that the United Kingdom will leave without a deal on 12 April”.

There will be free trade between NI and RoI in the short term. UK customs will be examining all shipping from NI to Scotland and Dublin to UK etc They will apply tariffs on any Non Identified as NI originating produce .Dublin port has set aside land for the equivalent . It is likely that Irish government agents will be lurking around the ports of Larne and Belfast recording the East West passage of containers. In the event that they appear south if the border soon after, then they will likely be stopped by Irish Customs. I would assume similar activity by UK agents in Rosslare.
These are of course highly unsatisfactory and a border will appear sooner or later.

Yes, it's looking increasingly like either a very soft Brexit with Customs Union to solve the backstop problems, or a second referendum.

After the current record breaking petition, Remain will have to be one option in a second referendum.

Only a few problems there then...
First if all none of the ammendments are going to be binding, so tomorrow they can play at government again and have one calling for a referendum, or revoking art 50...All passes time I suppose until we leave on 12th with no deal.
Its an utter farce. All pointless arguments from spineless people.
They should have an ammendment asking if Parliament could make a decision, but they wouldnt agree and it wouldnt be binding anyway, so they wouldnt have to make one.
Have they actually made a decision about anything in past 3 years?
Its rather like Groundhog day without the humour. We should sack the lot of them and start again.

It still could. The delay to the 12th has removed a bit of urgency, but one day there will be a final deadline which could get the deal through. That's more likely if the House gets control instead of the government, since that will panic the ERG into being more co-operative.

And/or of course, May could add customs union to ease the deal into being accepted with Labour's help.

But of course parliament did no such thing. The referendum asked the public's opinion, the final decision only ever belonged to parliament.

Given how indecisive the result was with the country fairly evenly divided, it's entirely proper for parliament to either make the final decision or go back to the people for that, now the various options are known.

Not quite. Mays previous blunder of a ge gave us a hung parliament, that saved our bacon, by paralysing her. If it werent for those votes we'd be skewered, subjected to her insane narcissistic whims. Imagine her with a big majority.
