there is no bad guy in this sort of agreements. They help to strike the right balance between protecting jobs and reaping the benefit of free trade.
It's the idea of free for all trades that is idiotic because it only benefits the traders to the detriment of the workers.
So why criticize Trump when he does exactly that but justify it when eu does ??
And BTW why the difference in tarrif on cars ...To protect EU car producers , predominantly VAG, Porsche and Merc perhaps( all major sellers in USA))with in reality a low concentration of employees.( all this firms make extensive use of automation)..?

there is a clear difference.
The tariffs in EU-US trades have been negotiated by previous US administrations. DT's new decree is not and will create a trade war with China, Brasil, India etc.

different tariffs exist and are used all the time to address issues such as imbalance of trade, differences in state aids, prevalent wages, living costs, state of development of the exporting countries etc.like in the EU's policy 'Everything but arms' to help developing countries.
BTW, duty free quotas are the same as differing tariffs.
The main thing is they are negotiated agreements.

But the EU protection of Tata wasn't negotiated at all..
?? What's the difference ? Think as usual there,s quite a biased view on here, always against Trump but pro whatever EU does. Yes ,Trump has probably gone OTT but he,s doing so for exactly reasons you give...its just a matter of whose jobs those incharge protect...EU is not blame free in any way shape or form with tarifs , corruption and general mal.prectice. EU is probably amongst those most likely to turn a blind eye to underhand dealings. Trump would never countenance what's happening in Italy...( Mafia controlled taxes on sea imports/ exports in all major( Italian) ports, one of which largest container port in EU).
And then Europeans have cheek to grumble at Trump..

they are anti dumping measures, limited in time and scope, and subject to WTO tribunals.

those estimates will evolve with time. We are at the beginning of the technological age where a lot of land is still used to provide food and energy. In the future, most of those two categories will use a lot less land - eg nuclear fusion leads to undersea gardens etc,
It's not just about food though, the planet's material resources aren't remotely able to meet the demands of today's population.

Technology needs to be used for the opposite end, to work towards a future planet earth with around one billion population that can sustain itself permanently due to re-use and recreation of earth resources. That's necessary since we will never be able to transfer to another planet.

WTO have nothing at all to do with Mafia getting a cut out of every single container going in or out of Italy...EU should get its own house in order ...
Giving exorbitant taxes a name and claiming WTO sanctioned does not make it right Woosh.
If Trump wants to stick tarrifs on stuff...so be it. Its going on all over world.
You cant have one rule for him and another for others. Dual standards.?

Governments are sovereign, the mafia is an Italian problem not a EU one. There are EU anti-corruption directives but they have to be applied into national law. The EU can fine Italy if it has concrete proof as in the case of HMRC not applying duty to imported Chinese goods.

They were stupid because they didn’t and still don’t understand the implications of their vote. EU migrants are going home in droves, unfortunately they are just the worker profile that the lady said we should be keeping.
KudosDave
They are not stupid. As I’ve said before, they are probably poorly educated and politically unaware. That is a result of where they were born and their family, that does not mean they are stupid. In different circumstances, things may have been very different for these people.

Try using the terms such as duped, mistaken, conned, hoodwinked, deceived if it makes you feel good, but not stupid. Anyone can fall victim to a con, particularly older people who tend to be more trusting.

The only person looking incrementally more stupid with each post is Mr Bicyclesalesman. A man who believes that his bike flogging technique gives him licence to brand poorly educated working class people as being stupid.

we are making good progress on making plastic and other material recyclable. At the moment, we use plastic in the current way because natural resources are cheap to dig out of the ground, that's not going to continue. In less than 300 years, most of our current materials that are mined will have been mined out or difficult to get at except perhaps iron, aluminium, carbon, silicon and uranium. We'll replace most metals we use today with either carbon or aluminium or silicon.

Ofcourse its an EU problem. Same old story EU can pass book on every difficult situation.
In bicycle man's defence he does champion society's underprivileged after insulting them, from his yacht in Greece .He is a great supporter of socialism and social reform, when he is in country.

DT is an shortermist idiot. His action will cause more job loss than jobs gained and will tax the American consumers, deter inward investment etc. The people who profit from his tweets are the financiers who got tipped off before the tweets.
Wars are expensive in more ways than just money and jobs.

Also some of these EE countries are booming,I was in Gdansk recently, the quantity and quality of house building is obvious.
As you say’ if it was anything less, they wouldn’t come here’.....which is why they came in the first place, but it is now less so they are leaving.
KudosDave
Yet, we are hiring the Chinese to produce the first of many new nuclear power stations. If they can find fitters, platers, turners, welders, riggers, electricians, crane operators, NDT inspectors, security personnel and all the other essential staff required on such a project from UK-sourced labour, why can't we do it ourselves?

I can't believe that the Chinese will be bringing over all their own workers while British workers in all the engineering disciplines are still around, many looking for the challenge of such a huge project. The senior project engineers will no doubt be Chinese but the actual 'hands-on' workmen and women will be recruited in the UK......I hope!

Recycling needs a considerable proportion of fresh material input to sustain a usable quality, so continuing on the path of exhausting all the raw materials to support overpopulation is not viable if the human race is to have a future.

In conjunction with exploiting technological advances in recycling, we need to reduce to a population that the earth can permanently support though it's own renewal abilities. The second and ultimately vital reason to do that is to allow all of earth's other life forms to co-exist with conditions that allow fresh evolution.

read my post again, I said he is a shortermist idiot, judging the consequences of his action on the people who voted for him, the rust belt of the USA. He is of course not an idiot when he filled in $1 billion tax loss on his tax return.

that is because the raw material is so currently cheap so recycling technology receives less incentive to develop.
Plastics in particular need to be replaced by other less environmentally harmful materials because it will remain cheap to make in the foreseeable future.
Just look at the progress of solar cells and offshore wind farms, recycling of paper. When there is money to be made...

I'm afraid they're not the noble savages you would like to believe. Many supported farage, ukip, are more than just a little racist, xenophobic. By choice, the UK is for now still a place of opportunity, where education and background are very poor excuses indeed for ruining ones own and others lives via making stupid choices
