The worlds finest aero engines.
I'd forgotten, you are right, they didn't sell that bit off did they. Looked around and couldn't find my aeroplane I must have lost it somewhere so not much use for a new engine these days. ;) You knew I was talking about day to day living, you may fly but I don't do that much anymore. I can't find many German made goods in my home either.

I passed my drivers licence in a Land Rover, the one that killed my father (long and complicated story). Back then they were made in England. And my mother was into Jags, XJ6s, the ones with the gearbox made from some kind of glass, well not mother friendly in any case...

But all that is the past, the companies have been sold off, you make Wheetabix now. I may have to reconsider my position on brexit, what will breakfast become without them?

The Beeb is running a series of ten under 15 minute programs daily from last Monday titled:

Brexit, A Guide for the Perplexed.

Each day's program covers one main area

They can also be listened to on the i-player at any time and each day's web page contains the next and previous program links. For you to start with here's last Monday's first day program link, subject "Who are we negotiating with".
.
I think that should read
Brexit a guide for the terminally mislead that voted for it

That's lovely.

My wife had a VW and it's a great car which I like very much. However, I have always, without exception, found the VW and Audi dealership servicing to be the worst customer experience hat I have ever had. I have used four different main dealers and the experience has gone beyond bad and into fraudulent, bordering on police involvement until they admitted what they were doing and took action against those involved. This goes all the way up to VW UK.

This is such a shame because I have a long history of VW and Audi ownership, but I / we will never own another.

My mother owns a Toyota. In complete contrast, I can not believe the lengths that this company go to in order to ensure customer satisfaction. It is remarkable.
I had a Toyota Avensis 2 litre Estate as a company car it would pass anything except a filling station and the body was made of such thin metal you had to take care not to dent it by even leaning against it to fill it with fuel.

Good programme tonight about Europe/ Brexit.. And unbiased coverage from BBC !!!

Showed EU warts and all...really isn't as simple as remainers like to think.
But it wasn't intended to be a balanced program, it was specifically made to show the rise of the right wing across Europe. Just one part of a whole spectrum.

But like it or not, the right wing as you call it, is rising right across Europe.
Marine Le Pen pointed out that is not the old left/right politics but Nationalist/ Globalist.
People are suffering because of the EU.

True, but it was a travesty to call the program unbiased coveraged as Zlatan did. It was solely representing the anti-EU parties, intended to be and announced as such.

Katya Adler's documentary on Europe, the rise of right wing populism in many European countries was a well put together programme,it was however biased anti-EU.
If LePen gets in in France and 5-star in Italy leaves the Euro then I think we can all agree that will be the end of the EU.
One interesting point was the EU objected to Hungary in building a fence to close its borders, they protested but did nothing. We don't need a fence we have the English Channel,I wonder what would the EU have done if we said we are going to control immigration but stay in the EU,I bet they would have blustered but do nothing.
It would have been simpler than Brexit.

I watched the same program and found it excellent, factual and one of the best BBC reportage in years. Katya Adler shows clearly the state of flux that the EU is currently immersed in.
Katya herself is a journalist of the highest calibre when the subject is Europe and the EU. Like Stephen Sackur of Hardtalk fame, both are archetypal modern Europeans.
Make no mistake, Europe is currently at great risk of becoming chaotic.

On the contrary, it shows how foolish we are to walk away , as the only country that has actually FALLEN to a right wing government that the program was intended to warn people about.
And if Europe fails because we have been stupid enough to lead people in other countries to fall for the same plotters and go in that direction?
How does it benefit us that our misguided action has destroyed the stability of our biggest market?
We will have become a Contagious idiocy that destroys European Unity
Congratulations

Yes because of the disruption our classic bad example has popularised

Some Toyota cars do appear to be made of very thin gauge steel. From what I have seen, I don't think this makes them inferior to other equivalent makes though.

The big plus for me is that the Toyota dealers that I have had contact with project a genuine sense of appreciation for your business.

This is in complete contrast to VW / Audi who I have found to be underhand, deceitful and fraudulent. I get the impression that they genuinely believe that it is they, the dealer, who are doing the customer a favour and that we should be for ever grateful to them. Unacceptable arrogance.

The emissions crimes committed by this company gives you a small taste of how they behave. Not for me in future.

From the Guardian
"
Brexit will cause 'vanishingly small' fall in net migration – report"
Reduction was a core wish of leave voters, but overall figure will probably fall by less than 15%, thinktank predicts
The report by a new thinktank, Global Future, shows total net immigration, which at the latest official estimate was 335,000 in the year to June 2016, could be expected to fall by no more than 15%, to 285,000 a year. Future free trade deals with non-EU countries suggests even this reduction could be wiped out.
Brexit lovers worried about immigration are going to love the next bit

Liam Fox, the international trade minister, accepted last week he did not know of any new free trade deal that did not also include liberalisation of migration rules between the two countries signing such agreements. Australia and India have already indicated they will seek preferential access for their workers as part of a free trade deal.

Remind me again what was voting for Brexit meant to achieve?
You have been "had" haven't you?

The Front National economy adviser was on TV yesterday. Not very convincing, not very articulate and holds some strange and dangerous views about the French economy. They don't have a plan other than change the name of the Euro to the Euro Franc and devalue it by 30%.

Yes the programme was reporting around the topics you mentioned but it was totally impartial in doing so. This situation was not portrayed pre June...Government would not have allowed it. It gave reasons behind rise of certain elements, painted a picture of both the economic devastation and the unrest across Europe. Blaming Brexit on for any of that ( as OG suggests) is ridiculous.

Tillson
We know the enemy is desperate when they start stealing ammunition, especially when they don't have the equipment to fire it..( not that OG is really the enemy but you get my drift)

Stopped air travel when my father died. I do have about 4 times around the world in flying miles however, a quarter of those miles being on internal flights in NZ. I don't have many regrets but one of those is that I don't have my light aircraft licence. I won a flight in a essay contest when I was 12 and thanks to a little cunning got in line to get on the plane last and into the front seat. I got to "fly" the Cessna for the whole time except for take off and landing. I have dreamt of flying light aircraft ever since.

I purchase goods from China like everyone else when I have no other choice, most of my food however comes from the EU so isn't imported. IKEA furniture made in the ex eastern block countries, Korean fridge and washing machine, clothes Intex, electronics from all over Asia... I do look at labels but budget dictates choice except for food. 90% of my food is sourced from inside a 100 km radius around my home.
