I gave you your answer, it's a combination of fear of unrest among the Brexit voting faction, an unwillingness to be brave enough to do the right thing, and the feeling the public "have it coming to them for making this decision anyway"
As to the numbers for and against Brext
As usual you offer neither proof or logic, and even if you happened to be right, when things go downhill, how many including you will remember they voted for Brexit?
You are going to get the Government you deserve, that will serve the cause of getting back into the EU quite nicely when the Public reacts as it will.
Whichever way you "spin" it, if the Brexit vote hadn't won, we would not be in this present situation, would we? more years of Tory misrule added on to our sentence.
OG for once I disagree with you. If Remain had won & Cameron stayed in power, we would be have been subject to Tory misrule until 2020 at least. Since Leave won & Theresa May has been in power, the Tories are becoming overconfident (too cocky by half is probably a better description). Maybe...just maybe...we are starting to see a backlash with the first real challenge to social policy in decades. I am not saying Corbyn will win but he could be laying the foundation for a genuine Labour govt if & when Theresa May fails and the UK finally wakes up from this nightmare.

Actually that is what I am expecting to happen to and predicted all along, but we shouldn't have had to sacrifice membership of the EU just got to be rid of the Tory party, however I do agree with your analysis as to the likely outcome, just regret the way so many will suffer in the meantime who didn't want any of this.

In the short term getting rid of Tory rule is important, but for the future we need to be back in the EU for how will labour make the economy thrive outside it?
Tactically. we need to rid ourselves of the. Tory infection
Strategically we need to be back in the EU
We need both

Folk who think that should be lobbying Corbyn to support remain. Said all along I cant understand why he isn't. I voted leave but would sacrifice leaving to get a labour government.
But I don't think labour will get in without supporting remain..

Agreed...but one step at a time. For me, right now & taking into account where we are social policy trumps option say of 2nd referendum. Plus, I would rather have Corbyn's collaberative style leading EU negotiations rather than May's controlling & combative one.

Good point, but remember if Labour should get in the difficulties they will face could discredit them long term
Better to let the Torys take that approbrium.

Prime Minister sought to clarify flagship Tory policy as she hit out at Jeremy Corbyn for making 'fake claims' about it

Good grief and we are supposed to believe she will negotiate a "GOOD DEAL" with the EU?
Hell will Freeze over first!

We all see the preposterous attitudes and ideas from Tories but it is Labour's ineptitude which allows both to become reality.
Come on Labour do something besides trying to bribe students and buy votes with money country hasn't got.
This really is an opportunity,I,m beginning to think they don't want power.

European Commission receives mandate to begin negotiations with the UK
Brussels, 22 May 2017

The European Commission welcomes the Council's decision today to authorise the opening of the Article 50 negotiations with the UK and to nominate the Commission as Union negotiator. The Commission also welcomes the adoption of the first set of negotiating directives.

Oh Dear, Mrs May wants to keep negotiations secret and the naughty EU wants to make it all Transparent by publishing things here?
https://ec.europa.eu/commission/publications/article-50-negotiations-united-kingdom_en
Oh Dear , Oh Dear , that won't go down well will it?
We can't have the public knowing what is really going on, can we?
"Meetings held by Michel Barnier, Chief Negotiator for the EU, are published online."

This is getting worse by the day, Mrs May must be delighted with all this HONESTY.

What a Calamity! after 40 plus years of lies about the EU are we in danger of hearing (dare I say it) some TRUTH?

Just because the EU know what a lying set of illegitimates our media and Government are there was no need to insist on the truth coming out.
This isn't fair, everyone knows we can't operate in that sort of scenario! it's NOT CRICKET!

... Not trying to score a point, but the essential difference might be that the. EU regards people as citizens and the UK regards people as subjects.
