Were the UK seek to withdraw their letter, they would need not a qualified majority but a unanimous vote of the 27 member states.
Donald Tusk could simply bin it and say 'What letter?'
No need for a vote.

The EU have already confirmed in writing that they would allow us to delete A50 and stay in. The EU seem to be taking a moderate view of negotiations,it is May who is already taking an aggressive stance.
KudosDave
I agree. May's autocratic and / or bombastic personality is not doing the UK any favours as we approach the negotiating table.

.... Let's also include some other things it did not do....
It did not incite an Arab Spring, . It did not bomb Syria, Afghanistan, Israel, left bank, Iraq, the Kurds, Georgia, the Ukraine or the Balkans. And it is also now failing to bring war into the horn of Africa. Others did and created the problems of refugees and Isis . Funny that those warmongering nations , who did so on the basis of being peace and stability were not at the forefront of dealing with those problems.
'Danidl', there is no point engaging in a battle of wits with someone who is only half-prepared. Internet forums are littered with trolls just like this one and the phenomenon has prompted several studies into the motives and motivation of these sad, unwelcome, argumentative and quarelsome individuals.

When all is said and done, they are best ignored according to what I understand.

I can see poll tax type riots in 2 years time when these people realise that Brexit has done nothing for them.
KudosDave
I hope not because May has cut police numbers to the point where they are woefully inadequate to deal with any large scale civil unrest. The few that are left hate the government and are looking for an opportunity to get out.

Thatcher was quite clever (if you can call it that) in this respect, she got a big gang of boot-boys on her side to by giving the police a massive pay rise and swelling numbers. She then used them to beat up and crush a group of people who wanted to do nothing more than go to work and earn some money for their families, the miners of course.

By contrast, Cameron and May have shat all over the police and now she is hated and has no respect, loyalty or support. She seems to have this gift to attract loathing upon herself.

brexit latest: brexit has to happen before FTA, the only deal in town is a transitional deal.
I can see a general election coming next year.
What Mrs May needs now is some increased military activity in Syria to divert attention away from brexit.

And BTW its the Spanish causing conflict over Gibraltar. A Spanish warship in UK waters ???
'We've invaded Spain, I don't think they've noticed'

In 2002 an attempt to show off their prowess at dawn assaults went badly wrong for a unit of heavily armed British Royal Marines when they accidentally invaded the wrong country.

The platoon stormed from a landing craft on to the San Felipe beach in the Spanish town of La Linea and instead of being fired on with blank rounds by fellow British soldiers pretending to be the enemy, the marines found local fishermen.

Lord West is former First Sea Lord and was the Commander in Chief at the time.

Yes I do believe in all that, and remember you only asked for one reason, I could give you even more if I cared to bother.
Er, why should I drive around Europe? I can see enough in this Country and my days travelling to Europe in the past while still at work provided me will all the evidence I need.

Saying EU has prevented a war is pure platitude , wrong and part of the misdirection from europhiles. It hasntt even got a peace keeping force, ( of any substance) besides according to OG preventing conflict is not part of EU remit.
Another case of your contradictory remarks.
The EU isn't Nato or the UN and it is about to gain a Military Force of it's own over which we will have no say.
As always your arguments are nothing more than that, round and round in circles.
Still it keeps you occupied I suppose. Someone has to support the unsupportable side of the debate, by hedging and dodging where no rational argument in favour of Brexit exists.

We've already intimidated a Spanish Frigate off Gibraltar with a little boat called HMS Pipsqueak Ooops I meant Scimitar, Hang on that's Turkish, shouldn't it be call Cutlass?
What a disgrace, Britannia rules the waves with a motor launch that looks like it belongs on East Park Lake, and we can't send the new Navy High tech Frigates yet as they are being fitted with the biggest outboard motors we can get.
Things have got so bad we had better have the ladies run up a new set of Sails for HMS Victory, at least it doesn't break down when the water gets warm, and even when the wind fails the Tars can launch long boats and tow it by rowing while singing Hearts of Oak, or Rule Britannia.

There's an opportunity there for Zlatan to sell them some second hand I reckon, and he's good for Submarine spares too.
Nice little earner for you there.

should we also see our low economic productivity as a result of staying too long inside the EU?
How about sugar consumption and obesity?
Type 2 diabetes, heart disease and stroke?

..what has EU really done ? Don't just say its not their remit to do anything worthwhile, what have they achieved ?
Tell me one thing.
They setup two courts which have done an enormous amount of good.

As you requested, that 's just one of the vast number of good things that the EU has done.

Not really we have a long tradition of never being prepared for whatever happens after all, going back to the time of the Roman invasion.
And we have been involved in war after war with countries outside the EU on a business as usual basis pretty much all of my 70 odd years.
To be honest I have no idea just how many conflicts we are involved in right now, perhaps you can enlighten me?
And yet we keep creating weapons that seem more useful to the enemy than they are to us like these latest frigates.
That has nothing to do with the EU, but our incompetence.

How can the population be expected to have any real grasp of truth all the time we have such a blatantly, anti-socialist media constantly warping people's minds with lies and distortions?

The web blogger, AAV, draws attention to this today, just by way of one small example:

'Theresa May has been grovelling for brutal misogynistic Saudi tyrants in order to get them to keep buying British weapons to commit their war crimes in Yemen. The media are trying to whitewash this disgusting agenda by waffling on about her not using a headscarf (as if she's the first female leader to do it when she's not).

Imagine if Jeremy Corbyn was shaming Britain by licking the boots of Islamist tyrants. Do you honestly think the mainstream media would go out of their way to give him an easy ride over it like they have with Theresa May?'
