You are stopping the fire engine from getting to the burning house because a dust cap has come loose again.

We will continue to put our fire out. Good luck getting your vaccination, our 70 year olds were being vaccinated 10 weeks ago and the pace of the vaccination rollout is accelerating.
Yet again you ignore the fact, that the UK is where it is because of EU Vaccine.

We’ve profiled people for vaccination starting with the most vulnerable and working our way down to those who barely have any symptoms, children. The virus poses no real threat to children, most don’t even know they’ve got it. Why would you start by protecting them from something which is poses no threat?

That strategy is pretty much the strategy being deployed across the globe.
Not entirely, a number of Oriental countries are doing it in reverse from the young upwards, but not including 17 and below. Our experts say that approach has a lot of merit and when the reasons they are doing that are looked at, that is certainly true.

If children were kept in a Zoo you might have a point
(some might actually think that's a good idea)
But while just about anybody will happily cuddle their children
How can the virus not be passed on?

Actually if we had someone with a brain running the country and emulated New Zealand, we would be giving surplus stocks of the vaccine away
And could take a more rational approach to mass vaccinations
There's an old Jewish saying that describes the difference between a clever person and a wise one

A Clever person can get out of tricky situations
That a wise person wouldn't get into

Yes, give the vaccine to someone who stands a less than 1 in 10000000 chance of dying if they get it at the expense of not giving it to the person who stands a 1 in 10 chance of dying.

That makes perfect sense if you are a headbanging window licking fruit cake.

Just because a child has been vaccinated, it doesn’t mean it won’t transmit the virus. A lot is still unclear about transmissibility.

Anyway, the goal at this time is to stop people getting seriously ill and needing hospitalisation, not allowing some soppy git to cuddle a child.

It has nothing to do with the chance of dying but everything to do with the virus not spreading. In the final outcome there is very little difference between the old to young or young to old strategies, which is why our experts commend that Oriental approach as well.

I'd explain further but suspect my typing would be wasted on a firmly closed mind.

Nope, as I wasn't comparing to them was I?
The whole point of assigning values to things is to compare to others and know where you stand.(it's the whole point of percentages, it provides a common base from which to compare)
You chose a regime that makes our position look relatively worse, until the same procedure is used for others, when it is our position looks amongst the best again.
If you weren't comparing to countries mentioned, who were you comparing with?
Under any objective sensible method of assessing how far through vaccination we are, ours is amongst best in world and is best in Europe.
Its fairly silly to criticise our roll out so far. In fact more than silly.
I think doing so answers Woosh's question quite admirably.

You really should actually read my post which was
"Yes we only have another 150% to vaccinate and it's done (ish) "

Tell me where does it mention making comparisons?
It doesn't it's simply a statement, you made up the idea of comparisons, regardless of my saying it wasn't a comparison with any other country

How Pathetic can this Brexit Religion get?

Which Tory Donor has been spaffed a couple of Billion to supply the flags on the basis of telling cheap towels for wiping down muddy dogs?

What is also clear is children actually do catch the virus and pass it on

And by the same token Germany only has another 190 % to go. So what.
UK has vaccinated approx 4 times that of any other European country. So why make point in first place???

I almost agree with you. However neither you nor I or anyone else has any idea of the incubation period of this bug in kids who don't immediately get sick. This bug continues to give us nasty surprises, and a time bomb in kids would be par for the course. Remember, how many years later after the chickenpox Shingles takes to do its business... And while it is just often only painful ..my experience, It blinded my uncle and hastened his death. The name of the game in December was to stop flooding the NHS ICUs ..but even we who took our time starting vaxing ,have managed that trick
