Your favourite mayor Sadiq Khan is strongly backing your stance on face masks and arguing against the government on this issue. He wants some compulsion on wearing face masks.I don’t know how anyone could be convinced that a face mask does not off any protection from cross infection.
I think the policy of not wearing face masks will have been derived as follows:
Q. How many face masks can we get?
A. About five million.
Q. How many would we need for everyone to wear them
A. About one hundred million.
Policy: Do not recommend the wearing of face masks.
Like PPE guidelines, it’s been worked backwards from what they can scrape together in a chaotic panic.
Looks like they have found the verb "project", as in cinema. And are projecting fear with gusto. From the paper that caused a furore over "project fear"
I listened to him on LBC this morning and was impressed. I agreed with all he was saying and he was very direct with his answers. Fair play to him.Your favourite mayor Sadiq Khan is strongly backing your stance on face masks and arguing against the government on this issue. He wants some compulsion on wearing face masks.
He's also extended the trial on bus driver safety. From Monday all passengers must enter London buses via the middle door to leave the space ahead to the driver empty. This means all London bus use is free during the virus crisis, a sensible measure.
.
Right or wrong, I very much get the feeling that he is trying the best he can. That he really wants to do the right things and will push as hard as he is able to do them.I listened to him on LBC this morning and was impressed. I couldn’t watch today. That voice. Those cliches. That trotting out of that tired old script. That sense that they expect a round it applause for how well they’re doing. Quote Tweet

@campbellclaret Un- bloody-believable. Not a single journo challenged Sharma at the presser on the amazing admission UK effectively out of full length PPE gowns. What goes on? Incredible omission. Amateur hour.

They may as well stop these sessions as a complete waste of time I suspect many people have given up on them as the apathy and confusion the government displays can seriously endanger one's will to live
I’d have respect for the government if they admitted they got it wrong, misjudged the Coronavirus and delayed too long. I think I could just about forgive them that, this is an unprecedented situation the likes of which has never been seen before.Right or wrong, I very much get the feeling that he is trying the best he can. That he really wants to do the right things and will push as hard as he is able to do them.
Feelings that are utterly absent from the government.
I don't half hate myself for some of the thoughts this whole thing makes me go through.Meanwhile in the US of A Trump mid pandemic is inciting his base in States to revolt against lockdown measures
This could get interesting....
DT is likely to be asymptomatic.Part of me wants them to socially contact and suffer the results.
That candour has been the most refreshing part of the Irish Government handling of this so far. However I am now starting to pick a defensive vibe regarding Nursing Homes . It is evident that this one slipped below the collective radar, and they hoped rather than ensured these older vulnerable people were protected. 45% of our 500 deaths have been in care homes, with CV19 infections now in about 30% of them.I’d have respect for the government if they admitted they got it wrong, misjudged the Coronavirus and delayed too long. I think I could just about forgive them that, this is an unprecedented situation the likes of which has never been seen before.
All the BS and denial makes me think they will never get on top of the situation. The first stage of improvement is admitting where you went wrong and addressing it. These clowns are in a perpetual state of denial. It’s pathetic.
Watched the first lockdown version two weeks ago and it was intolerable - but they have really improved the sound quality. Not believing HIGNFY I just had to look... and gifted with a much needed laugh

What half-wit was put in charge of that table?? Wales has the exact same population as N. Ireland....Really? !Yesterday, I posted crude death rates based on government numbers. I have just recalculated using today's numbers. They are worse.

Well it least it wasn't on HangoutsWatched the first lockdown version two weeks ago and it was intolerable - but they have really improved the sound quality.
Yes - much needed.
The answers, no matter what the question is, will still start with " Let me be clear, what we must do is pay tribute to our wonderful NHS workers....................."
