Ventilators from Dyson yet to receive ‘green light’ from government
Despite an announcement more than two weeks ago, James Dyson’s business has still not had the go-ahead to produce ventilators to help the NHS during the coronavirus.

Why do they get to travel?

They are allowed to do it to give them a sporting chance, distance lessens the odds of being coerced into appearing on the Daily Coronavirus briefing as a stand up comedian

It’s not what I’m hearing from TFL bus drivers. I think 19 are dead so far.
I've come back again to advise you of something you probably won't know from your remote position. A majority of London's bus drivers are BAME, and as you may have noticed from mentions here, their infection rate is very much higher than the indigenous population.

Yes, there are some odd characteristics to this disease. Women seem to generally have a better outcome if they catch it and people from ethnic groups seem to be more susceptible to catching it and having a worse outcome when / if they do.

BMI seems to also be a factor. Normal range BMI usually indicates a better chance if fighting it off, but ghat May also indicate a healthier life style.

Good idea but i have a couple with that little metal strip that you form over the nose, can`t see those being suitable?
And when ATM theft doesn`t work we have this nasty scam - > https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-52280334

An Irish citizen has been questioned and bank funds have been frozen in an international investigation into a multi-million euro coronavirus mask scam.

The alleged scam began after a German company tried to buy 10m masks, valued at about €15m (£13m), from online suppliers.

The German buyer unwittingly placed an online order on a fake Dutch website.

Fraudsters put the buyer in touch with an Irish "intermediary", police say.

The German firm then made a down payment of €1.5m into an Irish company’s bank account, based in County Roscommon, for masks that were not delivered.
.. You need to continue with the piece that arrests have been made . That practice of fraud is dispicable, as of course was the people trafficking faciliated by the Craigavon haulier ,which resulted in 30 dead Vietnamese.
Going back to the metal, it may not matter... The only places I have had problems with microwaves would be rings of gilding on china cups.

Just a word about buses. Those that run in my town don't have air-con because windows are not sealed so passengers are free to open windows and would be pointless. All buses are single entry/exit and the rule is if you are about to board you wait until everybody has alighted first to avoid blocking the doorway, that's normal.
From what I can see from my window (a distant view) drivers do not appear to be wearing face masks.

Totally unconnected, just counted Ambulance number five passing by lights flashing. I would expect that to rise to about twenty before the days end.

Edit> Ambulance no. 6

Make sense for partners who live together to stay together to minimise the infection spread.
.
That is entirely possible.

I find it difficult to see anything in the rules which permits that sort of relocation. So, not so much a get at her for being with him, but yet another way in which the apparently ultra-simple, ultra-strict rules get massaged or bent.

Such rules should never be made, since they can never fit so have to be bent by good sense. Parters who live together should stay together and bo!!ocks to the silly rules.

As I've posted and some eminent figures have agreed, it should have advisory on a voluntary basis, using the co-operation of the public instead of stupidly getting their backs up with threats and police state bullying.

Especially when the threats and advice come from people too stupid to avoid infection themselves.

It does to my my mind take a pretty solid state of denial or gay abandon to get on a bus at this point in time full of commuters without masks

I don’t understand the government’s opposition to masks. They seem to be very cool on the idea, almost, but not quite to the point of discouraging their wearing.

For the last couple of hours I’ve been listening to a radio phone in whilst digging my garden. They are discussing the government business loans and how difficult it is for companies to access the money. I was not astonished to hear two business owners phone in who manufacture in textiles. Both said they could easily switch production to face masks and have offered to do this rather than close down. They have been rejected by the NHS having been told they aren’t on the approved supplier list.

I’ve come across this sort of stupidity before during my brief venture into the public sector. These idiots pay massive markups on equipment and services because they effectively write blank cheques to their approved suppliers. Aren’t we in exceptional times whereby we need to make decisions which go against traditional practices? Surely if people are dying due to a lack of face masks and we have companies willing to switch production to make them, that has to be worth investing rather than turning them down flat because they aren’t on a list?

I don't understand their opposition either. There seems to be an increasing amount of evidence building up that masks can limit people with the virus but showing no symptoms, spreading it to people without the virus.

Perhaps they are waiting for even more evidence or are they worried that if they change their advice, there will be even less masks available to health care staff.

I offered my old disused underwear and socks for possible repurposing as face masks but was told they were not to spec. A bit odd because when I placed a pair of old Y Fronts over my head and across my face people gave me a wide berth, crossing the road if fact. I wonder if I've hit on something here ?

As they said on TV today your best mask is your own front door. Unless you wear a complete biological isolation garment(BIG suit) you take a risk as soon as you step outside, that's why myself & partner locked down almost 7 weeks ago when Boris was shaking hands with destiny.
