This is worth a read, it looks at the actions taken by the UK and RoI Governments in dealing with the virus. I know it can be difficult to compare various countries with one another when it comes to how they have handled the virus, but I think if there is a public enquiry into all this one day, then the information in this article should be part of it.

Nev, if you read my various postings from End February, you will see how closely it mirrors her report. We were getting information from the Government in mid to later February. My wife and I had purchased tickets for a concert scheduled for 15 March , last October, but by 4th. March had already decided to forego it. We had a family funeral on 27th Feb and we spent a lot time at it talking about CV19.
The other factor being missed in the article is that the Irish deaths include those also in care homes which is 45% of the total. Now we are not doing well there and I suspect that the majority of our future CV19 deaths will be from that source.

and that runs the dwp and that plan is fooked as well as the 2 million now on uc.

dont worry tho as on uc you have a online journal but the best thing is if you get sanctioned and cant afford the internet your fooked.

if a cc is changed on line buy a work coach in any office in the country you have just seven days to accept it and if you dont the hole claim is now shut down and every benefit inc housing also stops.

as a sheep this is your life on the uc digital system and will only end if you can find 35hrs a week or more in paid work.

the issue I have with UC is the coercive principle behind it.
On the face of it, UC is supposed to encourage people to get back to work but in practice, it does not help people to do that. As SW said, it is ruthlessly effective in applying sanctions to reduce the amount paid to claimants.
If I wanted to give someone on UC a few hours a week on a trial basis, do you know what UC does? It takes 67p in every Pound that guy is going to earn. If he ever fails to declare his earnings, he'll get sanctioned.
When you consider that the reason many people fall into UC in the first place is because they are less able than those in full employment. They need help to get a few hours a week to start with and build up from there.
If I were the government, I would allow UC claimants to earn £50 a week tax free, then tax them at basic rate 20% until they make it to 16 hours a week.

Don't worry, they will have internet access, that X Box / PlayStation needs something to connect to. It’s more important than food.

Don't you think Sunak is head and shoulders above anyone else who does these daily briefings though? Just more articulate and straightforward

He reminds me of Gritpype Thyne from the Goon show's famous line
"Have this photograph of a shilling, lad, and there's more where that came from!"

Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer says ministers should reveal this week how and when they plan to end the lockdown. He's live on LBC to speak to Nick Ferrari at 7.30am.

Most of them already have ended their lockdown, swanning off to distant parts to sit it out in comfort.

Meanwhile the Express can't bring itself to mention that people are dying like flies and leads with this
"local council salaries how much do local councils pay boris johnson salary
Exposed: Local council fat cat salaries -one person even earns FOUR TIMES more than Boris
FURY erupted last night as it emerged that 2,667 town hall employees across Britain are being paid salaries of more than..."

Leaving aside for the moment that Boris isn't worth paying and should be able to survive on Russian donations , even for the Express this is a new low.

I wonder just who was referred to as having erupted in Fury?

The important thing when leading a Rout from the rear is to be consistent
"Thousands of letters warning people with underlying health conditions to stay at home during the coronavirus pandemic were sent to the wrong addresses.
If it wasn't tragic it would be funny

More than ten thousand people with underlying health conditions in Wales failed to receive a letter warning them to stay at home after they were sent to the wrong address.

Reports suggest 13,000 letters from the Chief Medical Officer of Wales were sent to the wrong address and instead sent to the intended recipients previous address.

Whatever happened to the letter we were all supposed to be receiving from Johnson? Is it in the same place as those 25000 Coronavirus test / day we were promised will be achieved today?

The UK's tax and spending watchdog has suggested that the coronavirus pandemic could see the economy shrink by a record 35% by June. @NickFerrariLBC asks: Can the UK avoid economic disaster? https://pic.twitter.com/ZsD6jtIM86

That's the wrong question, it should be does the UK care? after all it voted for economic disaster by electing the Tory party and Brexit insanity

The new Nightingale hospital had only 19 patients in it over Easter, proving two things
1: Existing facilities so far have coped better than we could hope so far
2: There is a terrible cost behind this situation when you read this
"HSJ has seen data showing 19 patients were at the London Nightingale over the bank holiday, which has been confirmed by a senior figure who did not want their name to be published.

The low numbers at the Nightingale are also likely to be influenced by the tight criteria that was agreed for patients to be admitted there, which excluded the most frail patients.

In other words left to die at home or in care homes!
So even when an attempt could be made to save them
It isn't going to be made.
No reason, just policy.

And who decided on that policy, no one knows, do they?

The White House people, yes, they are absolutely full of ****.

Trump turns against WHO to mask his own stark failings on Covid-19 crisis

Dishonest decision to pull funding from World Health Organisation will endanger public health

I’ve been following the COVID 19 data for the UK at

for a few weeks. This morning when I opened the site I got redirected to:

where the graphs look very different. The number of confirmed cases shows a significant leveling off over the past few days which is at odds with the data I’ve been scraping off the original site. Look at the graphs of confirmed cases at the UK Gov site and that from data collated by Johns Hopkins which can be found here:

Call me cynical but I smell something very fishy - I mean it couldn’t possibly be that our wonderfully competent Government lead by de Piffle The Lying Rat are manipulating the data.

Surely not.
