Would you prefer that the homeless sleep under cardboard boxes then?
Unless and until someone does some proper trials, I don't think I could decide between the two hideously awful possibilities. Cardboard is likely to be warmer and less prone to condensation. Bins are likely to be more waterproof but, if water does start running in, it will very quickly accumulate and soak the person inside.

In the EXpress (AKA Der Shturmer)
‘Deploy the Navy!’ Britons FURIOUS as blocked French fishermen threaten to torch UK boats
BRITONS have expressed their rage at French fishermen blocked from UK waters who have threatened to set fire to British boats.

This is another case of a Newspaper winding up the support of simpler members of the public

This article gives an insight into the situation not based on propaganda

And in the Express
"
Boris fury: PM erupts in brutal outburst as he attacks SNP's Sturgeon in foul mouthed rant
BORIS JOHNSON launched a sensational rant at Scottish National Party (SNP) leader Nicola Sturgeon during a tense meeting at a climate summit in Glasgow, it has been claimed.
The name-calling came amid difficulties in planning the summit with Scotland’s government.

The summit’s former boss, Claire Perry O’Neil, suggested Mr Johnson offer Ms Sturgeon a formal role to stop her Scottish National Party from wrecking the event.

According to The Sun, Mr Johnson replied: “Over my f**king dead body.

Not a good start f**king Boris

Your attitude isn't helping is it?

Time for you to act like a Statesman, not Cummings thuggish street corner gang member.

Naturally the reader's comments applaud Johnson's behaviour, not realising it is endangering the Union.
Their assumption that England owns Scotland is another example of how thick they really are.

Have you seen any recent statistics on the views of those in Wales, Northern Ireland and England on Scottish independence?

I used to have a fairly jaundiced view of the SNP and Scottish independence but as each year (or should that be minute?) goes by, I understand their attitude and opinion ever more.

Lots of detail here
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opinion_polling_on_Scottish_independence

Especially this section
The British Social Attitudes Survey has asked voters in England how Scotland should be governed, since the 1997 British Election Study. It has always found a plurality in favour of devolution, with majorities in favour between 1997 and 2003 and again in 2017. Since 2011, when the Scottish National Party won a majority in the Scottish Parliament, there has always been one in five people in England in favour of Scottish independence.

So far haven't found details on Welsh attitudes, sad to say I don't think anyone can be bothered to ask!

Obviously it is not the only indicator, and there are many factors, but the pound has reached its lowest value this year against the US dollar.

1.2984

You have to go back to the little dip around 23/12/2019, or further to 03/12/2020 to get this low.

Pity that has not been updated since 2017. (Not that a snapshot should justify a major change, but that we cannot see what has happened since. But we can guess. :) )

Boris has finally made a promise he can't fail to keep
Boris announced an end to new British investment in African coal, despite there having been no such investment by the UK since 2002.

On the other hand there is this..

Meanwhile, nearly £2bn of new deals on African oil and gas were announced.

Nothing to see here move along....

Ooops. Scottish Finance Minister exposed as a nonce. Surprised OG isn’t all over that one.
Only just read it!
Apparently the youth is 16 years old and has reached the age of consent in this country.
So no crime committed actually
Still a foolish act on his part to make himself vulnerable to the press who actually ignore the fact that what he did while unwise wasn't illegal, or is the a case that this all started when the youth was 15?

Interesting situation actually as the how the law differs in different places.

I think that diagram/map is male-with-female AoC. Not male-with-male. Which could be very different.

The fact that this was publicised on the day that McKay was to deliver his budget to the Scottish Parliament raises suspicion of a possible "honey trap" by the Scottish Sun "newspaper".
This doesn't diminish the man's stupidity, if he can't be trusted to behave on social media, how can he be trusted with the Scottish budget?

If not actually a honey trap, I suspect they had known for some time and it was timed with questionable motivation.

Not in Europe where it is mostly the same for both genders. There it's 15 years in seven countries, 14 years in another seven, 13 years in Spain and 12 in Vatican City. At th other end of the scale it's 18 in Hungary.

I thought it was the younger the better in Vatican City? Why wait until 12?

It’s always seems to be middle aged men wearing leather trousers and sporting preposterous moustaches that campaign for lowering the age of consent. You never see 10 year old boys carrying placards demanding to get themselves bummed.

No it isn’t
Well, it sort-of is. There are countries in which sex outside marriage is illegal and same-sex marriage is also illegal. And Chile has 18 for male homosexual, but 14 for female homesexual and heterosexual. And there are other countries where it is different.

This isn’t stupidity. It’s criminal predatory behaviour. The communications are available online and this man’s behaviour fits the NSPCC definition of grooming.

To say he’s been stupid is a bit like saying Alex Salmond only engaged in a bit of friendly slap & tickle. Salmond is accused of attempted rape and numerous sexual assaults.
