Very true. We are also set on pulling out of our most valuable source of services income and haven't the land mass or climate to become a major food exporter.

That just leaves manufacturing where, as I posted, we just don't have anything like sufficient current ability or even potential in terms of product, price or volume.

There's no doubt in my mind that a no deal exit would have a catastrophic outcome, and I'm sure a deal either side of the Atlantic would leave us worse off for a very long time than we were before Brexit.
.
I dont understand media fascination with Royals. BBC are as bad as any. Tom Bradbury is normally a good interviewer, why is him talking to any Royal made out to be a major news item. Its bonkers. Who the hell are they catering to or for. I dont think I, ve ever met, spoke to, worked with or know of any Royalists. Are there any?

Seriously ,it is your problem. What is fascinating is that the German and French rubbish gossip magazines are equally besotted. The magazines are interested only because it sells

What I don't understand is why these two wanting out is newsworthy or presented as threatening the Royal Family?
The irony is that some years ago it was discovered that there is a survivor of the Plantagenet line who has a better claim to the throne than HM the Q
He is a sheep Farmer in Australia, and when the evidence of his rightful claim to the throne was presented to him, his reaction?
He took off his hat scratched his head, laughed then said the immortal words
"Strewth, Blue you can shove that!"

Looked at from the viewpoint of as plantagenet who somehow has contrived to survive into the present.
He strikes me as a very wise man indeed!

Stop press" Royal Party can sleep safely in their beds!

Another quip from our real king
"“I reckon I might send Lizzie [Queen Elizabeth II] a bill for back rent. The old girl’s family have been living in my bloody castle for the last 500 years,” he said, according to AFP. " :D :D :D :D

Too late! we've lost him!
However this is pertinent
"And it doesn’t seem as though his eldest child is looking to become King Simon I, either. "

The magazines are interested because people are interested, and people are interested because The Queen is superb.

Meghan is a talented woman with a successful career of her own. She does not need Harry's money and it's not as if Harry will ever be king anytime soon.
I can't see why she should stay in the shadow of her husband for the rest of her life.
What they have done is something that the royals did not want to see but is overdue.
Our 'royal observers' are a disgrace for this country.

I think there is a bit of racism going off, in both directions with regards to Meghan & Harry. There are those who aren't comfortable with the idea of a black / mixed race Royal, and there are those who are giving her too much leeway because she is black / mixed race.

I don't really care what they do, both are pretty insignificant and have little or no influence over anything important. Meghan is a second rate trash TV actress and Harry is where he is due to an accident of birth. What I do have a slight issue with is the dipping in and out of the Royal trappings. It's ok to have a big Royal wedding, but don't want any Royal Duties. It's ok to have a Royal Residence, but not ok to fulfil any Royal obligations. It's ok to miss important Royal engagements due to "maternity leave" but she doesn't mind leaving the baby on the other side of the Atlantic whilst she arses about over here. They only want two children in order to reduce their carbon footprint, and want others to do the same, but it's ok to yoyo back and forth around the world on jets. And it goes on, they are either in or out, I don't care which.

Therefore, I think the Royal Observers are doing a good job, this pair need pulling up over their behaviour. I'm not convinced Harry is even Charles's son, he looks nothing like the others.

let's take a couple of examples of how our gutter press 'mirror' public opinion: 'they should pay back Frogmore cottage refurbishment cost'. That cottage belongs to the Crown Estate, why should the tenants pay for the upkeep? The same reasoning should apply to for example the cottage in Westminster occupied by the Speaker of parliament.
Royal protection security cost: If you were Harry, would you want to be watched 24 7 by the security people? his protection is to protect the Crown, not his needs.

They need the protection. To suggest otherwise is stupid. Harry is a target due to an accident of birth. That’s beyond his control. He doesn’t even ask for it, who gets protection is a decision taken by the police and security services.

If he doesn’t want to do the Royal duties he doesn’t need or deserve the royal trappings, such as the cottage. The speaker gets the Westminster residence because he does the duties of the speaker, when that ceases, the trappings cease.

This pair’s problem is they want to pick and retain all the nice bits, but reject the work elements. These clowns have teed themselves up for for the flack they are getting. All the press is doing is taking a good hard swipe. Fair enough in my opinion.

To assume that he'll pick and choose may be justified but if you were in Harry's position, which of the royal duties would you consider as the juicy bit?
They did not reject their position, they just want to make some decisions for themselves. If they were your children, would you insist that they stayed on 100% under your control?
Our gutter press being sued by the couple have thought it good for their cause to put their boots in first.

Juicy bits:
Big state wedding
Money
Houses
Cars
Servants
First class travel on tap
Health care
Access
Status

I’ll leave it there.

They have rejected the job. I agree, it’s not like a job he’s applied for or had an ambition to carry out, but it is a job. If he doesn’t agree to carry out the job, he must not be given the perks of the job. Security has to remain in place.

none of the items on your list is under Harry's and Meghan's control, they can all be taken away by the government and Charles.
The money comes essentially from Harry's family except costs relating to security and work expenses.
Their big wedding helped TM's government and tourism.
Would anyone blame me, my son or daughter, for paying my son's wedding costs? or my daughter's flat? or their flight tickets to come on holiday with me?
Our gutter press poisons the mind of our citizens.
