Some things do need to be called out. We had a guy with two accounts, where he would express strong (weird) opinions on one account and then back himself up from the other. He also used posts from both accounts to gang up on some members to a point where some might call it bullying. The funny thing was that nobody believed that the two were the same after he got called out until he eventually got banned. They couldn't figure out why the second guy got banned, when he hadn't posted anything that warranted it, so they were all asking for his reinstatement.

It's similar on Twitter and Youtube where people and organisations use multiple accounts to swarm the narrative. Suppose 100 new members suddenly appeared one day in this thread all spouting the same narrative and ganging up on you when you disagreed, then you found out that it was all from the same guy. Wouldn't you want someone to do something about it.

Also, there is a well known trader, who posts on the forum. He has started several stooge accounts to falsely review and promote the stuff he sells. People make decisions on what to buy based on what they see other people raving about on the forum, which is obviously a problem, when what they're being told is false and they've put their money down.
Think you are making my mistake. Taking it all rather too seriously. Its a forum. Relax, have a beer, enjoy the banter, that's all it is. In reality its of little consequence. Ten or so silly old goats arguing, passing time, expressing opinions and communicating.

The forum lost many decent and useful members because of this Brexit thread, which is why admin moved it to where nobody can find it.
I am not convinced about that. A number of years ago, the pedelec market was zealots and homebrew enthusiasts ,it is now more quietly mainstream.. look even Halfords sell them. "For everything there us a season" The hot topics elsewhere are illegal scooters and possibly CBD smoking.

Not to mention modifications to convert Pedelecs into uninsured, unregistered, untaxed motorbikes. It was the place to come if you wanted to derestrict your ebike. There does seem less of that now. And rightly so.

What Vfr forgets is that this "Brexit for once some facts thread" is without doubt the most successful by a very clear margin indeed.

From the Express
It's funny that the press shot labour down for this very thing

"
Boris’s Brexit Britain paves way for huge spending spree that sparks ‘decade of renewal’
BORIS JOHNSON’s Brexit Britain has paved the way for a massive spending spree that will herald a “decade of renewal”, it was announced on Monday night. Chancellor Sajid Javid said he will use the first Budget after the UK leaves the EU to pump a colossal £100billion into much-needed infrastructure projects across the UK.

Where does this £100bn come from? and why is it now a good idea when the Express was describing it as a mad scheme?

And he's upset the Readers of the Daily mail
"
Boris Johnson will NOT axe the foreign aid department as he scales back pre-election plans for Whitehall shake-up
  • Boris Johnson's plans for departments created or scrapped have been curtailed
  • Department for International Development wont merge with the Foreign Office
  • A borders and immigration ministry, separate from the Home Office, is unlikely
  • Oliver Dowden and Rishi Sunak are in line for a promotion in cabinet reshuffle
  • UK’s foreign aid budget rose £493m in 2018 to reach £14.6bn for the first time

It looks as if we can expect a daily lie or backtrack every day for the foreseable future

How do you measure success. If I were to start a thread "My bike is the best", then repost the same statement 50,000 times with slightly different wording, would that make it more successful?

this thread also covers wider topics: the NHS, our armed forces, foreign aid, our role in the world post colonial era, social justice (or lack of it) and the role of the EU in our social justice.
Compared to the whole of the e-bike general discussion, we explored more in depth what is and what is not the EU than anything you or I have ever said about e-bikes since 2011.

I, ve learned loads both reading posts and investigating for replies on here. Not sure if that says something about me or the thread??
I cant see problem, rest of site ambles along. I occasionally visit and upload pics of bike trips...
Yes, folk are repititive, rarely change their minds and are generally opinionated. Sort of life really.
If thread was damaging forum, owners would have closed it down months ago. I suspect they love the traffic it generates.
I do think on occasions moderation could be stronger but we, re all adults. I think.

Just out of interest took at peek at vfr's last post re how repetitive this thread is according to him.
Clearly he hasn't read much of it, or he wouldn't stick to the boring repetitive snipes he makes against it,
We must have covered every topic under the sun!
And as for the accusation against me.
The message has never changed, but the posts I make are far from simple repetition otherwise there wouldn't have been the level of interest and comments made for and against them.
And what about his posts?
If ever there was a boring windbag with an attitude problem ward VFr you're my nomination for that award.
If you don't like the freedom we have to discuss whatever we like, whenever we like, you are a sad individual.
Feel free make yourself look a fool, and now the ignore button will serve again.
Bye!

What we actually have on the thread is a debating society where all sorts of opinions have kept us together as a group of friends, despite appearances and somewhat flowery verbal fisticuffs from time to time.
In many ways it's a sort of modern "Jousting tournament"
I for one enjoy these exchanges very much

There was no need to close the thread and no need to moderate it. They just put it where nobody would find it. Didn't you notice that it's extremely rare that any new members join in the thread? That happened about 2 or 3 years ago. I think it was a really smart move. The thread is now basically the same 10 people going round and round in circles of intransigence spouting nothing but ballcox, which is the only traffic it gets. You can't even find it on Google now. I only come here occasionally to stir things up a bit and give you something different to talk about because I feel sorry for you.
