Hmmmmm. Labour got 32% in this election - in 2017 they got 40%.

I am open to arguments as to how that counts as a 2% fall (which is what OG said).

In your own time.
Already explained I read it was the shift from labour to Conservative not the general shift, and apparently the figure was incorrect, but then it did give you the opportunity to frolic about eh?

But like many others I don't want Labour to shift to the right Blair fashion just to get into power.
what is the point for politics if not getting into power?

Perhaps someone can advise me on this ? I have just bought an iphone and wondered if there is a forum software app that will access this forum?
I used to use Tapatalk on my Android Phone, but after the forum software updated I could never get it to connect again.

Tapatalk stopped working on my iPhone when the forum software was updated. I’ve had to type all of my shite onto a webpage ever since.

He makes a good point.
And you are demonstrating both why Labour lost and why Party is in utter disarray. Dont agree with something somebody says (somebody who has never ever voted Tory) and you jump on bandwagon and call them a Tory supporter. What was it Blair was? Torylite. Campbell (by Livingstone) not proper Labour anyway.. Sound familiar.
Well at least Tony Blair got in power. The only Labour leader to do so in 50 years, and what do current idiots do. Call him and his cronies "not proper labour".

that caller is not alone.

QUOTE:

The caller continued: "A leader that can just be modern and reach out to everybody, because at the moment the Labour Party's trying to find voters that don't even exist anymore, that generation's gone."

He added the Labour Party needs to "go and find out what the people want - people who have been left behind or feel that being left behind."

There is no point if it's only to duplicate what is already available, as Blair did. There was precious little difference between his Tory light and that of most of our post war Tory governments. Even Thatcher didnt introduce anything as extreme as PFI.

The point of politics for Labour is to keep trying with socialism since it will return once the public get sick enough of Tory policies. In just the same way that the Liberals keep trying despite there seeming to be no chance of power.

Instead of trying to get Labour into the middle of politics and saying that will be popular, why didn't all of you advocating that vote for the LibDems since they are the middle party?

If you were right that the middle would be a popular choice, how come the Liberals aren't in power with hundreds of seats?

Tony Blair understood to get into Government you first had to get elected. He told the voters what they wanted to hear and worried about the consequences later....
Boris has done exactly the same. JC didn't want to get caught in a lie...Tony and Boris don't give a ****.

You may not realise it but without intending to be, that is what you are.
Your choice well and good.

This is truly weird
https://www.lbcnews.co.uk/politics/brexit/eu-could-block-boris-johnsons-withdrawal-bill/
Brexit could be blocked by the European Parliament if Boris Johnson fails to protect the rights of British and EU citizens, Guy Verhofstadt has claimed.
The European Parliament's Brexit coordinator told his fellow MEPs there was still "a problem to be solved" before giving consent to the UK Prime Minister's Withdrawal Agreement Bill.

It's already going off the rails isn't it?
Watch the press howl about the EU is bullying us!
This is great fun.

Come on Boris threaten them.. tell them you will die in a ditch... that should do the trick
Every day we get some new comedy out of this Brexit farce.
It's like a Whoopee cushion!
With the added drama there are drawing pins inside it!

I keep reassuring myself that in their infinite wisdom the Leave campaign must have planned for all eventualities.
Strong and stable, Brexit is Brexit...

I've already mentioned how in my constituency we swung a long standing marginal into a big 6000 plus majority for Labour in 2017, despite the candidate, Sarah Jones being new and untried.

In this 2019 election we returned her to power with an even bigger majority over the Tory candidate, against the trend elsewhere. The difference is explained in Sarah's post election message to us all and the following passage shows that it was the Tory and media smears that lost the election for Labour elsewhere, not Corbyn personally or his policies. As Sarah explains, we didn't suffer from that behaviour locally in Croydon Central:

"I am very proud that in Croydon Central we secured an increased majority of Labour votes. But the national result was devastating for the Labour Party. I want to apologise on behalf of our party to those across our community who wanted and needed a Labour government – a government which would act to solve homelessness, reform our broken welfare system and reverse the billions in cuts to our schools, police and health service which we suffered under ten years of Tory governments.

The Labour Party can, and must, rebuild. There are positive lessons from our campaign in Croydon Central – we united a diverse community of leavers and remainers, rich and poor, young and old. We did it by listening closely to the concerns of our whole community and speaking back with sensible, practical solutions to the problems you wanted fixed.

As I’ve said previously, there will be times when we disagree but I’m proud that in Croydon on the whole we disagree in good faith and without resorting to abuse. I want to thank the candidates for other parties for not engaging in mudslinging or personal attacks.

I’m back in Westminster today and have just been ‘sworn in’, meaning I am officially your MP once again. I’m ready to continue holding the government to account as Shadow Housing Minister and opposing the looming threat of a Tory hard Brexit which is already driving down the value of the pound."

Isn't it strange how little comment appears in the press about the Brexit Party?
You remember, the one that promised to revolutionise politics?
