I know you wanted to hear:

1. they have come to rape your women and children
2. they are sleeper terrorists
3. they have already killed their mothers and sisters to travel faster to achieve points one and two

But you can already read those answers to your question in the tabloids, known for only writing THE ABSOLUTE TRUTH. I'm amazed your tabloids are not delivered engraved in stone...

PS my bike is my car
That's all very presumptuous and nicely illustrates the inaccuracy of your thought process. Did you write it out in crayon first and then ask a grown up to type it for you?

You are a mystery man indeed. Personal insult when confronted with logic doesn't fit with "a career in aviation" or many of your other comments. A logical well thought out argument, now there would be a challenge, and from time to time you have slipped in a few. Accidents? Unfortunately I have the skin of a rhinoceros and personal attacks don't have the power to penetrate. I actually learnt to touch type in high school, it was an option, all the "real men" took extra sport instead. Having been trained in the arts I am pretty handy with a crayon too but prefer a big fat felt tipped pen.

Wouldn't it have been so very convenient that these young men had just stayed put to be shot or die of starvation. How very inconsiderate of them to try and save their skins. And in the UK of all places, don't they know it rains all the time?

Isn't all this going to create a prolonged period of instability and uncertainty which is exactly what business doesn't need. If we are going to leave the quicker the better. The government should get behind Teresa May and show some spine. I imagine the rest of the world are laughing at our dithering and squabbling. Do what the country voted for in a free and fair way and get on with it
The solution is in Theresa May's hands, first of all she needs to forget the Royal Prerogative route and accept she needs to trigger Article 50 with the support of parliament. She could prepare a white paper tomorrow that advises the priorities of our negotiations then put it to parliament,if parliament agrees legislation could be rushed through and she is back on her timetable.
Forget the twaddle about 'not showing her negotiating cards',the problem is she hasn't done the work, unless the EU negotiators have been blind/deaf for the last 3 months they know what we want, they know our strengths and weaknesses.
May has the problem that parliament will sensibly want to stay in the single market, that means she may have to forget immigration control, you can't have it both ways,Boris knew that from day one.
It is Theresa May and the 3 Brexiteers who are doing all the dithering and squabbling, the legal challenge would not have been necessary if May had put the vote to parliament in the first place.
Actually business has settled on the low pound and put up prices accordingly, business is doing ok at the new price level. I put up 800 prices on November 1,I thought there would be some resistance but all my customers accepted it without any moans, except to say f.........Brexit.
We are all going to have to accept that is the price of Brexit,as Brexiters keep saying,we won, deal with it !!!!!!we have.

oddly enough, I used to be a young male immigrant to the uk seventeen or so years ago. there's a lot to be said for allowing young male immigrants, they often start businesses, create employment, pay tax, innovate, bring specialist skills, often at the outset of careers, often after very expensive training elsewhere. all of this adds to the economic activity, tax base of the UK. naturally it isn't going to be music to the ears of native benefit cheats or overcharging plumbers or builders doing substandard work and relying on virtual monopolies.

OG were you on QT last night. ?? There was a guy on there who brought you to mind. He was very knowledgeable and passionate and had strong views. Please don't think this is a pop at you. I don't agree with you most of the time but I do respect your right to your views.
No it wasn't me your honour! And I respect your views too
A lot of people made light of the Jo Cox murder and refused to believe it had anything to do with the lunatic ravings of the 'Brexit' originators.

The same people threw scorn on the notion that we were witnessing the rise of fascism once again in Britain, even denying the evidence of their own eyes and ears. Now, because the progress of their mad desire to plunge their country into the abyss of international isolation and economic disaster has been temporarily halted, they have turned their attention to the person responsible for bringing the matter of authority for such decisions before the courts.

Gina Miller is now the subject of a hate campaign by the far-right but I don't suppose that will bother the kind of scum who support a fascist government and have a deep-seated hatred of foreigners.

Should we be concerned? yes we should as they are quite capable of being a source of trouble if made to suffer, and you hardly need to be a rocket scientist to realise that.
Don't let your pet nonsense Brexit fantasy blind you to the reality of the situation.
Voting for Brexit doesn't give you some god given right to make other people's situations worse than they already are.
Why are you so keep to discount people just because they are not behaving as you think they should?
They probably thought the whole idea was a load of nonsense and would fail without them getting involved.
That was a mistake as there are a lot more deluded people around who wanted to work out a grudge than they expected.
Don't imagine for a moment they will be happy to accept whatever misfortunes come their way through actions you have initiated.
You are as usual wearing "Brexit Blinkers"
Time to stop this wishful thinking and see what is a real risk ahead.
The whole population will be affected by this and you are on no position to write off the majority as irrelevant.

Just had a conversation with my French neighbours about the jungle in Calais and the new one in Paris. There is a new jungle outside the Gare du Nord. He told me, apparently, 1,500 French gendarmes were deployed to remove the refugees/migrants from Calais. 3,000 got taken to Paris. Those who wanted to apply for refugee status there got given 350 Euros a month and a free mobile phone. They spend their days playing football and fight among themselves, not very interested in learning French and at the first opportunity, make their way back to Calais. The reason: they learned English at school. My neighbour will vote for Marine Le Pen.

Yes, we should have known better and all gone out to vote. Complacency is a very dangerous thing and we should never underestimate the power of stupid people in large numbers!

hmm..your neighbour, with respect, sounds as if he were about to vote for marine le pen all along. put it differently, he sounds about as unbiased in his "perceptions" as the editor of the daily mail. There you go though, the UK clearly does not have a complete monopoly on closet racists looking for ways to stereotype refugees as part of trying to send them back to countries NATO have destroyed.

Fleeing for your life from a war-torn country is logical. I can understand that. Leaving behind a wife, family and loved ones I can't understand and that seems illogical to me.

Getting to a safe country seems logical and worth the risk of a dangerous sea crossing.

Once in a safe country to then embark on further danger and uncertainty in order to reach the United Kingdom seems illogical. None of this makes any sense.

Now if we take the view that these migrants are not fleeing danger or leaving loved ones behind to face possible persecution or even death squads, then the situation starts to look a bit more plausible.

Could it be that your suggestion that the migrants coming to the UK are literally running for their lives Is little more than a fairy story? could it be that the UK has a lot to offer? A lot more than other European countries? Could it be that the UK is not the miserable, racist, unwelcoming place that old tom and old groaner would like to portray it as?

Looking at the situation as a whole and with logic in mind, as you keep going on about, the likelihood is that these people are not refugees at all, they are migrants coming here because The UK is the best place to be within Europe.

Whether it is acceptable to have an uncontrolled number of migrants entering the country is another topic.

Here's the most important bit, "European Union Referendum Bill 2015-16
5. Types of referendum
This Bill requires a referendum to be held on the question of the UK’s continued membership of the European Union (EU) before the end of 2017. It does not contain any requirement for the UK Government to implement the results of the referendum, nor set a time limit by which a vote to leave the EU should be implemented. Instead, this is a type of referendum known as pre-legislative or consultative, which enables the electorate to voice an opinion which then influences the Government in its policy decisions. The referendums held in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland in 1997 and 1998 are examples of this type, where opinion was tested before legislation was introduced. The UK does not have constitutional provisions which would require the results of a
referendum to be implemented, unlike, for example, the Republic of Ireland, where the circumstances in which a binding referendum should "be held are set out in its constitution.
It was only advisory.
The leavers, like Nigel Farage, are threatening rivers of blood type speeches if parliament votes against the referendum but what about the 16 million who still feel aggrieved about Leaving....perhaps we should do what the French do and set fire to the M25 with burning tyres,it always works for the French!!!

derf, I don't think he is racist. His daughter is married to a pied noir. His point is migrants should do more to help themselves. The French are generous to a point. Those who abuse their generosity should be deported back to Libya.

derf, I will include oldgroaner and old tom in this so I can't be accused of picking on you as an immigrant. The three of you do nothing but complain about the UK, insult many of the population by calling them xenophobic or racist, trash working people's reputations and to be generally disparaging about anything to do with UK culture. I can't think of any positive things that any of the three of you have said about the UK.

Why then, are the three of you still here? Would it not be better to leave it all behind?

If Theresa May asks for (note asks for because she needs a 2/3 majority) a General Election, would she still be on a Brexit manifesto? Maybe she will respond to the protest vote and try to do something for those who feel that the establishment is ignoring them, after all there are 16 million voters(maybe more now) who would take the opportunity to vote for anyone offering Remain whatever the party.
Dangerous to go to the country she could get hammered.

Stephen Philiips, conservative MP, in resigning today was said to be unhappy about his party becoming ukip-lite. Well, the conservative will have to face another by-election because of brexit. Their majority will likely be reduced to 8 by December. 4 more by-elections and brexit will be reversed.

Those who abuse their generosity should be deported back to Libya.
That would doubly upset a large number of them, coming as they do from Afghanistan, Ghana, Nigeria, Angola, Libya and many other locations unconnected with Syria or its civil war.

I agree they should be sent back to their home countries as unauthorised economic migrants who are taking advantage of a genuine crisis in another country to jump borders.

I do wish this rain would stop as I'd like to get out and walk!

Meanwhile, another tory does this 'moral stance' thing and steps down as MP......carefully hedging his bets by failing to be entirely specific about his reason.
