I think the downslide could happen too quickly in a volatile market to react before the pound sank below parity.

We aren't that far off parity with the euro now, and we haven't even left yet.
.
the market prices in no deal brexit but I guess Bojo needs only to deliver brexit, the no deal status won't last long.
parliament will accept a deal or require fresh GE as soon as November.

I believe we are going to have a GE anyway, whatever happens. Everything is increasingly pointing that way.

Councils rushing to update electoral rolls, probably having been told to, typical pre-election big spending announcements on popular things, promises about being tough on crime with harsher prison sentences.

That's a somewhat inflated figure. First it's nine years of subsidies, second he's only a minority owner among four altogether.

Straight arithmetic indicates a loss of only £5000 a year for him, so he's able to stick with his anti-subsidy principles. He appears to have money anyway, father ex oil industry with hobby farm interest, so he's been able to study and interest himself around the fringe of politics, rather than be normally employed.
.
I see. There are quite a few of those types of “farmers” around here. Their arses have never been anywhere near a tractor seat.

Bentley Bentayga, apparently they are more capable off road during lambing season.
Indeed, it's not only Range Rovers now for the elite landowners to leave the roads. In diminishing order it's:

Bentley Bentayga
Jaguar F-Pace
Range Rover

Of course that's ignoring the Continental 4 x 4 offerings.

What is wrong with stop and search policy?
There is nothing wrong with police stop & search powers. The level of suspicion that a police officer must have before using the power is high, almost the same as that required for an arrest. In fact, the spirit of the legislation is to prevent an unnecessary arrest. For example, searching a person may make an arrest inappropriate, because if nothing is found during the search, the level of suspicion may drop.

The blanket stop search (Section 60, I think) is different. A lower level of suspicion is required and I think the rank of officer who can authorise it is to be lowered. This can be used in areas where knife crime is out of control, for example in London.

I did have a sort of, reluctant respect, for the Green Party and Caroline Lucas. Sadly she’s turned out to be another idiot. She is proposing an all female cabinet to bring unity. Putting the first million questions and points aside, could you imagine what would happen to the man who proposed an all male cabinet? The screeching & wailing would be ear shattering and every computer keyboard in the land would have the #metoo keys completely destroyed by the force with which they were hammered into the desk. How does she get away with it?

More importantly, rather than bring unity, an all female organisation will bring unrest and disputes. Women are pre-programmed to cat-fight with each other, they can’t work in a group. Without exception, whenever I have worked in an environment were female employees start to approach 30%, trouble is never far away. They usually single one other female out for the kill, this is always the most talented and able. They then isolate her by excluding her in a minor way, such as not offering a drink etc. This gradually extends to social events such as not celebrating their birthday or wishing them a nice holiday. Then the nasty, snide comments begin and it rapidly descends into a destructive unpleasant and non productive environment.

I have seen this happen so many times, it really is a huge problem that people fear to speak about.

Congratulations you have just won the Attila the Hun award for diplomacy by insulting 50% of the adult population of the entire nation , not a bad effort for first thing on a Monday morning.
Keep this up and by Wednesday you will be rivalling Boris Johnson in the unpopularity with women stakes

The phenomenon definitely exists and there is some suggestion that this pre-programmed behaviour has deeply buried ancient roots in our animal ancestry. It’s a sort of protection mechanism to counter the more attractive and capable female’s advantages in the reproductive stakes.

I’m sorry you can’t see past the very superficial level of my observation being an insult.

There is also a vast amount of evidence that women are much more socially cooperative, and work better in groups together. To assume that women respond the same as men, when subjected to the same stimuli is false, ..but cooperation and social inclusion is a bigger element in female human behaviour. Sentencing a lad to Coventry ..the practice of not talking to him, is not much of a punishment. But to a girl it is really serious.

Once again I remind you that knife crime is far worse elsewhere, for example Birmingham West Midlands with barely over a quarter of London's population.

No 10 Twilight Zone - Deja vu

1 April 2019 > Theresa May hosts youth violence summit to tackle knife crime epidemic

Mrs May told the summit on Monday "we cannot simply arrest ourselves" out of the problem of violent crime.

12 August 2019 > Violent criminals should spend more time behind bars, Boris Johnson says

The Prime Minister said "you cannot just arrest your way out of a problem"

Though for some reason that escapes me Sadiq Khan is oddly absent....

Cressida's notebook must be bulging - "anything you do say may be taken down and used as evidence..."

They don't. The reverse is true.

No one said that. The only thing false is your statement.
Strange - I've worked in care homes and hospital wards run and staffed predominantly by women and can't say I share your cod psychological obervations. Same for an infant school where I'm a governor and the teachers are all women. Though expecting a change in dynamics when a newly appointed male head teacher comes in next year...

The summit is national, so Sadiq Khan as London's Mayor naturally wouldn't be there, just as Manchester's Mayor Andy Burnham wasn't, nor any other city mayor.
.
What about Cressida then - is she in charge of national police or just London...

Prime Minister’s Summit on Serious Youth Violence
1 - 4 April 2019, 10 Downing Street
