I don't agree, this is a petty issue that some women are now using as yet another accusation of sexism. They've often shown no reluctance to accuse a man of being stupid and only recently I heard a group of three women saying just that.

There have been occasions when I've said stupid man or stupid woman and I will continue to say either when I think it suits what I observe. Do you really think JC has never muttered "stupid man"? Of course he has, probably made more likely by being in politics surrounded by them, and also very likely that he's been called a stupid man many times. You've done it yourself Zlatan when you posted this:

stupid Labour leaders

In other words, used in both directions these expressions are not sexual or gender discrimination and women who say they are should be told to shut up and stop being stupid.
.
I'd rather JC blurt out something like that (silently or vocalised) in a momentary and passing way than a stupid person be hell-bent on her own brexit deal - seemingly in cold blood - actually being monumentally stupid.

The government said on Tuesday that it had sent letters to 140,000 businesses, urging them to trigger their no-deal contingency plans as appropriate.
It will also distribute 100-page information packs on Friday.

Good timing in the Christmas post, most firms pack up this Friday!!!!!
I wonder what no-deal contingency plans I should be instigating????
KudosDave
Yet in the real world, all they probably actually need to do is post the information onto gov.uk and let us know the link. Full-colour printed documents and fancy packs are really not essential.

Anyone know if this has been or will be posted?

So you want her to do what???
It's easy shouting and screaming how stupid people are how wrong they are and what a bad job they are doing... but please tell us exactly what you, d like her to do...
Rescind art50... She can't...
Get a better deal... Tried that...
Exit with a no deal... A probability.
Resign??,Who takes over...???
I don't understand what all May's critics expect her to do...
At least she has stayed in office...
Just to remind everyone.. She is carrying out the decision from the referendum and she won a GE with leave in manifesto. (which it was in Labour)
Can you imagine the outcry if she ditches leaving. Tories are in power on pledge to leave. The mistakes were made weeks ago... Its rather late to be saying stop. She has no choice but to do all she can to leave. That by no means at all makes her stupid.
Stupid is assuming she has options. She has none.
Fact is we are leaving. It's May's deal or no deal. The GE and referendum decided that.

Hello UK businesses,
If you are selling to the EU27, think of setting up there.
You can claim back the setting up costs from JRM & Co when they run the country.

Will I need a passport to visit Ireland next April? Or will the special arrangements still hold that mean driving licence (or whatever) is adequate?
Nothing will change. The EU countries will still want us to visit and spend & vice versa. Other suggestions which have been made regarding planes being grounded is hog-wash.

So it is someones fault?

Your tautology is something to behold. Or is it?
A factual statement as the present problem with Brexit could not exist if the referendum hadn't resulted in a victory for leave.
Do you have a problem understanding that?
If you voted to leave you caused the problem.

How could it be otherwise?

I'm at the BBC today. Just heard a very interesting snippet from Liam Fox off the record. Will report it later. But it makes sense why he is backing May ATM

No, it's wrong flecc, but minor.
If it upsets them don't use term. End of. Hardly hardship..
But its a strange world. He can call May stupid. He can say she is a woman... but can't call her a "stupid woman"... Ask his mates, this sort of thing is rife in Labour Party, which is why its made such an issue of...
No I don't accept that, it's perfectly normal to append the target to the word stupid.

If we see a dog doing something we see as daft , we will often say "stupid dog". Is that us being "dogist", discriminating against dogs? Of course not. We even mutter it against things, objects like computers when what comes out of the keyboard wasn't what was intended.

It's normal language usage applying to all, women included.

Ok flecc... Its not worth arguing about. You could say same over a lot of words that have become out of bounds. Take my word for it, rightly or wrongly, you, d be in serious bother in many institutions calling a colleague, associate or whatever a stupid woman. I, m not passing judgement, it makes no difference, its viewed by many as out of order. Corbyn knows that hence his denying it, even though he plainly did.

The wrong thing she did which I regard as stupid was that, as a Remainer, she stood for PM when she knew that meant implementing Brexit. That was putting ambition before principle.

That doesnt change what she could, should do now. Nobody has answered that, merely explained that in your opinion she did something stupid almost 2 years ago.
What do you want her to do now, bearing in mind the manifesto that put her there...

Worth reading.Gives an insight into why term is disliked and makes other good points.

No I wouldn't be anything I'd regard as serious bother. I'd tell them where to put their attitudes and walk away, regarding them as joining the stupid.
