Brexit, for once some facts.

Is this what Brexit fans voted for?
I doubt it very much;). Even the thickest of them should now be questioning what is being done in their name.......like, 'Hang on a mo, gov! You never told us about all this when you made your case before the big vote.'

Or......'Ok, I don't like all these foreigners down my manor and I voted to get rid of them, but I do like the NHS and all that money would make it a whole lot better! This ain't right gov!':(

I wouldn't call it insignificant and I can most certainly think of better ways in which that sum could be utilised.

Tom
that's the outstanding club bill. We would have to settle it sooner or later, the money can't be used to pay for other things.

From the Daily Mail, the "We make the News Ourselves" Paper
Russian double agent and daughter were poisoned when they got into his BMW
  • Police focus attention on Sergei Skripal's BMW as they investigation poisoning
  • It is thought he and his daughter were in the car two hours before they collapsed
  • Police have closed a car park where it was parked and removed a recovery van
  • It was announced today that 38 people were affected by the nerve agent attack
  • Met Police chief says investigation will expand and could take 'many weeks'

A reader's comment points out a couple of flaws
"
Lipslicker, Ripon, United Kingdom, 52 minutes ago

This story sounds like it smells a funny colour. Nothing about it makes sense. Two people walking down a street past a camera, six minutes later a policeman is running past the camera having received a call. One minute after that an ambulance races past the camera. So these two went down within seconds, so fast they could not even call out for assistance, and were found by others catatonic and frothing, yet they were supposedly poisoned before using their car a long time before. In the meantime, they had been for a walk, to the pub, and out to lunch. Yeah, right. Sure."

And this further down in the paper
"
38 people had been ‘seen’ by medical staff in relation to the attack. But only the Skripals and Detective Sergeant Nick Bailey, among the first on the scene, were in hospital. A fourth person was being monitored at home but has shown no signs of poisoning.

So we actually have the World's slowest acting Nerve Agent, mass panic, and it could have come from anywhere including Porton Down a few miles up the road.
And now we have another ex Russian Agent done in using the low tech method of strangulation.
Somehow none of this hangs together, does it?
Too convenient, especially when a diversion would be so welcome!
Nothing like an external threat to keep the punters on side, is there?

Hmmm!
What do dislike about that posting Zlatan? are you buying into this without reservations?

It wasn't the EU that created this:

Britain's fiscal watchdog, Office for Budget Responsibility, said the Government will struggle to hit its target of balancing the books by 2025: "the Gvmnt may not eradicate the deficit before 2031". All that pain dished out to the poor.

Not if Johnson, 'grease-smug', Gove, & Co. get their way and we crash out altogether.

Tom
that would be funny to watch JRM or BJ wriggling in front of the camera explaining why they have to go along with a decision already taken by TM's government.
The bill has been agreed and to be paid, commencing 2019, deal or no deal.

Thought your choice of quote was very selective. You are doing precisely what you accuse Daily Mail of doing...being biased.
We dont know all facts and public probably never will. IMO ( for what its worth) I think Putin knows all about it. If someone acted without his knowledge...well they,d get same treatment..( you asked)
I,m a football supporter but dont think we should be going to World cup. The drug scandal ( with Putin's knowledge and blessing) was enough to make my mind up, this just reinforces that opinion. ( The programme about Russia's involvement with drugs tells us everything about Putin's view of sport. It is similar to Hitler's in 30's.

The poor paying for the rich is called "solidarity". You know that the rich need all that money more than the poor do so it is only right that the poor should pay. As they don't have any money it is proof that they don't need it anyway! After all it is their fault if they are poor, they should have arranged beforehand to be born into a rich family, simples! And who sent all the jobs to China? You guessed, the poor did, all their fault because they wanted to be paid for working, imagine that, a decent wage for a hard days work. What cheeky sods! Serves them right.

"President Vladimir Putin must have been aware of what investigators say was an elaborate state-sponsored doping program, a German television documentary quotes whistle-blower Grigory Rodchenkov as saying."

"Of course it came right from the top, from the president. Because only the president can appoint the domestic secret service FSB for such a specific task," Rodchenkov, the former director of Russia's anti-doping laboratory, said in an ARD documentary to be aired on January 29.

The documentary gave a fantastic insight into Russian attitudes...The very lab responsible for testing was organising all the doping. And Labour/Corbyn trust Putin..they must be mad. Its loosing the next election for them...even if Putin is innocent.

Nothing would surprise me about Putin. We already have enough evidence to not go to world cup without this poisoning affair.

It is ironic that Brexit is at the point of no return, yet the Salisbury poisoning suggests that we need to be closer to Europe,we need the might of combined Europe/UK to stand up to Putin.
If Brexit wasnt happening I think Europe would be looking at the UK as a fellow member state in need, this wont be the last such event.
Maybe closer ties with Europe is no bad thing,I suspect the population of Salisbury would vote Remain now.

Dont think Putin could care whether we go to the world cup or not,but he may care if we announce a travel restriction on those known to be Putin's club, maybe visas taking 3 months to process to check security and only 2 visas per year...that would hurt the likes of Abramovich...the Russians like London they wouldnt want the disruption.
If the EU and USA did the same it would hit the Russians hard.

Donald Trump puts America first and is prepared to do that at high cost to individuals and other countries.

Vladimir Putin puts Russia first and is prepared to do that at high cost to individuals and other countries.

Theresa May puts Brexit first and is prepared to do that at high cost to individuals and her own country, the UK.

One of them is confused about their proper function.

I suspect that the rich Russians already have Swiss/French/British passport.
They could not have paid their donations to the conservative party otherwise.
BTW, Sergei Skripal and his daughter Youlia are British citizens.
