Brexit, for once some facts.

What support to do think the government should provide?
Hang on for the forthcoming sea version of the Eurofighter instead of buying the ludicrously expensive Lockheed Martin F35 from the USA, which is likely to be very late anyway.

Our aircraft carrriers are not going to be doing anything meanwhile.

Buy what? Some more Eurofighters, I think we have already done that, and then sell them at less than cost to some of our friends? Surely, as some might say, it would be better to spend the money on the NHS.
I think flecc has answered that

Would seem that the RN pilots don't fancy the idea of that particular version of the plane?

I think you will find that when it comes to military hardware the user does have considerable influence.
But the buyer holds the purse strings.

Our aircraft carriers won't be doing anything anyway, other than poodle duties for the Americans. And a useless Eurofighter version will follow in the proud tradition of the totally useless Harrier and Tornado.

Takes us back to where we started. Who else will buy the useless planes which means we'll have to buy even more next year to save BAE. On top of that we'll have crashed out of the EU, have no money at all, cats and dogs will be roaming the streets fighting for scraps down at the local food-bank.

Us of course, then give them to third world countries as part of our aid budget. BAE survive, those countries get the sophisticated planes they long for and it costs us no more than our present budget.

So everybody wins! ;)

In some ways yes, but, I also feel that if we stay in much the same will happen and we'll have little say or control in the matter. We, and I mean that generally, are making a pigs ear of BREXIT.

I have never read anything of Herman Melville although I did see the Hollywood production of his Moby Dick story. As an author, he would obviously have been a great observer of human behavioural traits and habits so I imagine this quote from him is based on his observations of the world around him:

That describes perfectly for me the kind of breathtaking arrogance typical of the tory party and all those who support them.

You're getting personal again Tom, not nice. No one has the monopoly of being kind and caring to those less fortunate than themselves! Some even do it without seeking publicity or reward.

It's the art of government, appearing to make everything better while not actually achieving anything worthwhile..
I'm reminded of Nye Bevan's description of the art of Conservative government......
How can wealth persuade poverty to use its political freedom to keep wealth in power? Here lies the whole art of Conservative politics in the twentieth century.
Aneurin Bevan

Personal?.....really? That was a stereotypical generalisation based on my experience over a lifetime, mostly spent living in a sham democracy which in reality is a combination of oligarchy and plutocracy populated largely by arrogant, inbred scum of the lower, aristocratic order.

However, although my comment was not directed at you personally, if you think the cap fits, then wear it by all means.
