Bike work stands and heated saddles in Lidl

Heated toilet rolls would be nice.

Discussions started about legalising e-scooters, could this mean insurance insurance for e-bikers?

In my post I did qualify that you must be driving. Anyhow, I don’t let other people drive my car and certainly not my Ebike. I suspect that most people’s bikes are personal.

    Ok, I accept your wisdom.

Would you pay £30 to save 1kg?

Yes that was the handlebar controller but according to Nealh this this does not control initial set up of the motor. I’m not trying to rubbish hub motors, I was just reporting my experience with a fairly new bike from a fairly good supplier. Perhaps the two bikes we had were not set up properly...

Discussions started about legalising e-scooters, could this mean insurance insurance for e-bikers?

My point being that if you have a registration plate and are driving then the police can tell your address, if you have insurance and a current licence to drive the vehicle via their automatic number plate recognition camera. I think that you stated that a registration plate only indicated...

Would you pay £30 to save 1kg?

In that case then, in answer to Whoosh’s question, I have no idea what type of controller is on the bike. The handlebar controller being the only one available to me. I don’t think that the Decathlon Rockrider is an ultra cheap bike so the setup should be to a decent standard as most of their...

Would you pay £30 to save 1kg?

There was one controller, sorry don’t know the make. It only had three buttons, on/off, plus and minus. It had three modes 1,2 and 3. Number 3 seemed about equal to between Tour and Sport on the Bosch but a lot more jerky. Any slackening off of pedalling on the flat resulted in a sort of...

Would you pay £30 to save 1kg?

Sorry but I can’t get my head around equating the above to my 15/11 - 48 Gearing on my Bosch motor. But in the real world: I am in Spain at the moment and have just hired two Decathlon Rockriders for three days. These have 250W x 42NM hub motors and we have just done three 30 mile off road...

Would you pay £30 to save 1kg?

Like you I don’t quite understand the comparison but I’m sure someone will explain. If the power ratings are at the final drive shaft then they are just working at opposite ends of the chain.

Dalston fatal e-bike crash rider 'going too fast' - Court Case

You obviously disagree then that “the law is an ass”. My point being that for some on here, regarding the above legal case, you can’t have it both ways.

Exactly and this is the same law that makes assistance above 15.5 mph illegal.

    The Law

It’s car versus car that causes me the most problems. I tend to leave a large gap between me and the car in front but find myself going backwards in the line of traffic because cars insist on overtaking to get one place further forward. I once saw a documentary on driving habits and a rep...

Dalston fatal e-bike crash rider 'going too fast' - Court Case

I totally agree with you. 20 mph is usually for an extra special reason. When driving in places like this I think to myself “ my grandchildren could be playing near this road”. Having said that though, on my last trip to Spain a large area of the town had a speed limit of 20kph. This was quite...

    The Law

Reading all of the above about secondary safety I have deduced that we would all be a lot safer if cars had no airbags, no seat belts, no brakes and a metal spike protruding from the centre of the steering wheel. For road accidents, hospitals should demand a credit card with at least £10,000...

    The Law

Yes I think we all do what we can to stay save but we can only think of most of the risks and can never completely rule out an accident. Some accidents could not have been foreseen, only tried to be dealt with at the time.

    The Law

I always wear a helmet nowadays but don’t really care if people object to wearing one. I certainly wouldn’t want it to be made compulsory in law. I have actually proved, twice, that a helmet can prevent injury, once by doing the embarrassing manoeuvre of over balancing with foot clipped in...

Yes, mine is a Bosch equipped bike.

    The Law

My bike doesn’t have a cadence sensor. With regard to “torque on pedals” if I sprint on the flat eg setting off from lights, = lots of torque, then slow down = no torque, how does the controller equate that with gradient.
