Takes me about an hour and a half to build a wheel so anywhere between £35 - £45 would seem about right if I were to do it as a business.

Nope - 50.4v fully charged. I'm going to try 15s of lipo on it at some point - that's 63v fully charged. My 190rpm Tongxin in a 700cc wheel does 20mph unassisted on 44v lipo.

Probably not advisable but I do like to experiment :-) It's not adviseable to run a Tongxin on 44v lipo at 17a either ;-P

I'd be interested in trying out a 260 rpm motor. Maybe we could organise some kind of group buy?

I'd pay good money for a 100mm wide 260rpm motor. What's the axle width like on the 83mm ones? Room for some spacing washers to fit to a 100mm fork?

Simpler to just put a multimeter on it - if you put the minus and plus leads from the multimeter to the wrong terminals on the battery you'll see a minus on the multimeter display - i.e -36v. If there isn't a minus on the display then you have the plus lead on the multimeter going to the plus...

Where does it say it has an SLA battery?

I'm running my 190rpm Tongxin @ 44.4v (2s2p 5000mah 6s lipo) with a 13 amp limit on the controller - watts peak at 650w. It does 20mph unassisted on my 700cc Trex FX 7.5 :-) Very happy with it - 250miles so far.

Regardless of the rights and wrongs of wearing a helmet, if my wife tried to "make" me wear a helmet if I didn't want to (which I don't btw), she'd soon be an ex-wife!

You can ft ANY battery to ANY bike, as long as the voltage is compatible. You might need to replace a connector and get creative with mounting (nothing a few zip ties and some epoxy can't sort) but it's always possible.
