Don't know if you know but you can't pull settings from a controller, you can only load settings to a controller.

I'm running 12.5 amps on 15s lipo (63v hot off the charger). Gives about 780watts peak. No overheating thus far, although the gears do sound like they grumble a bit if I give it full beans from a standstill, so I try to be easy on the throttle and always pedal as well.

Hub gears (esp nuvinci systems) are stronger than cassette + derailleur systems. The sprocket on a geared hub is normally steel, whereas cassettes are alloy. IMHO crank drives are ideally suited to hub gears.

I'm waiting to see what the AEG crank drive looks like - although it's sounds like it'll be for OEM's only as well :-(

Assume 25 watts/mile @ 25mph so that gives 12.6 miles - subtract 20% for "good battery practice" and you have 10.08 miles - so you're bob on. Of course, you don't "have" to go everywhere at 25mph ;-) And you could carry a spare battery. Very nice bike though but direct drive hubs aren't...

Nearly all controllers expect a normally open switch that closes when the brakes are pressed. You can test your controller by just joining the two brake sensor wires together and see if the motor stops. Them saying "the pressure switch works as a closer" sounds like the switch you require. If...
