Car driver charged with manslaughter over London cyclist death

Unlikely because to most people - especially the "well to do" - we're an inconvenience at best and a menace at worst

    Dutch e-bike market slacking off

I'd imagine that the market is approaching saturation point - those that want a bike already have one. So we can expect engineered obsolesence similar to the car and computer market to take a bound forward soon ;). Shimano already have it down to a fine art.

Car driver charged with manslaughter over London cyclist death

Not really - what would happen if you try to squeeze down the side of a cement mixer in your Land Rover? Not much - maybe a bit of paint missing and a wing mirror on the floor? Metal cages, seat belts and airbags are a good insurance against stupidity ;-)

    Food for thought

Well, I wouldn't ride it on the ped/cycle route as it'd be plated and quite clear to everyone a light motorcycle, not an ebike.

Car driver charged with manslaughter over London cyclist death

It'd certainly reduce the number of cars on the road because if they cycle as bad as they drive half of them would be dead within 10 mins!

    Food for thought

Precisely - which is why an S class holds no attraction to me - a point you made earlier. Simple fact is there is no legal form of transport that meets my requirements and acceptable risk profile, and there likely never will be. I am building a high powered ebike that I will msva as a...

    Food for thought

I've never hidden the fact that I want to use the promenade cycle route to commute to work - 7 miles of car free bliss. I'm not going to get away with using a motorbike on that route. However I do have to temper that with the fact that I don't wizz in and out of pedestrians at 25mph, often...

    I had an accident... AGAIN!!!!

I replaced it because it was a joke but a poor one. Don't read too much into it.

    Food for thought

Well, electric cycles would be zero rated anyway - just like electric cars and electric motorbikes.

    I had an accident... AGAIN!!!!

Having said that though - I presume the driver has not taken photo's of cwah's bike - and the witnesses are unlikely to comment on it. If cwah were to strip all the electrical items off before starting proceedings then no one will be any the wiser and cwah would have nothing to fear from...

Hang on a minute.............. Cool. So was it the motorbikes fault?

    I had an accident... AGAIN!!!!

It would need an mot after one year (as do most vehicles that have passed through the msva or iva process - although I got lucky with my Westfield as DVLA ticked the wrong box so mot after three years). If you got a driving licence before 2001 you can just ride it. If after 2001 you need...

    I had an accident... AGAIN!!!!

Excuse me! Have I not demonstrated that I have read, analysed and even agreed with multiple points of tilsons posts? Just because I do not agree with every point or that I have my own perspective does not mean I am a "brick wall". I thought we were having an intelligent and reasoned...

    I had an accident... AGAIN!!!!

But I bet the first words are "is that a motor on your cycle" Still msva - it's IVA for cars. I'm intending to pull my full sus bike through the msva just for giggles - I'll post how I get on.

    I had an accident... AGAIN!!!!

I accept that this is an adequate description of the contraption that cwah (and I) are using, but not the only description - just the legal definition. It doesn't mean it's a moped though. And it doesn't mean it isn't a high powered electric cycle either - because that's exactly what it is -...

    I had an accident... AGAIN!!!!

I think it's more to do with the fact is does 27mph and pulls 1300 watts!

Or just make sure your en15194 plate that you bought off ebay for £3.50 is affixed firmly to your down tube and that your automatic speed delimiter RFID transponder is more than 1m away from the bike
