    European regulations, one more time

Flecc You have point with regards to car usage. Perhaps I should reword. The % of the UK population that do not cycle is very high. Many rely solely on their cars for transport. If they could in some way be shown the benefits of cycling, then the market potential would increase...

    European regulations, one more time

E-bike do seem to be like rocking horse ***t. I have many people ask for an explanation as to how my bike works. I'd say 95 % have never heard of one. Market potential must be huge, but how can suppliers get the message across? Massive TV campaign? Anyone got the funds for this? On the other...

    Our perfect combination

I'm talking about our tagalong as per the picture in 1st post on the subject. I agree that a two wheel trailer carrying kid/s must have a safety wire.

    Our perfect combination

No, they are not. If the hitch was to snap, you would want the tagalong to stop. It would stop due to having only one wheel. If it were wire tied it would flip in its side and be dragged by the leading bike. That's my take.

2014 KTM Macina Lycan details released......

The KTM looks a lot better than the Overvolt. Rather over beefy looking rear triangle on the Overvolt.

How long should my ebike chain last?

Well, may you wear out many more chains before hanging up you bike.

How many people are using there e-bike off-road?

Eddie Looks like you've had a good day. The South Downs do have a lot to offer all cyclists. I'm glad to hear that I am not the only one to have had a battery launch down the road.

How long should my ebike chain last?

An interesting plan. Do let us know how this works out when you have be doing it for a few chains. Obviously easier to clean the chain off the bike but will it pay dividends?

    Electric Bike Ban

Well, I guess what has happened over there is precisely why many on this forum argue against illegal e-bike usage over here. The problem is not caused by the speed capability of the cycles but those who use that speed irresponsibly. The minority ruin it for the majority. Ever built a steam...

    Our perfect combination

Always a possibility. That's why my chosen tagalong is the only one specifically designed for off road used and has a CNC machined coupling with bearings unlike most which have crude lumps of metal. Won't say it could never happen but very unlikely.

The delivery riders will just swap back to petrol powered mopeds.

Well, I have just gone and done it - Kalkhoff BS10 ordered today

Tillson You are right, the cycle to work scheme is intended for people who wish to buy a cycle and use it to get to work. To use it for another purpose is clearly very naughty indeed. As far as I'm concerned, all bikes should be completely tax free anyhow. But that is another issue.

How long should my ebike chain last?

Haibike, RC29. 38T chain ring to 11-36T rear block I thought I check the chain last week, 10 weeks old and 1500 miles of commuting all weather since mid January. Few hundred miles in the mud too. Regularly lubricated every couple of days or so. Chain measured with a vernier. Almost to the...

Its not a moped, its the same bicycle as any other. If it was a moped, you'd be able to travel at 30 mph with your feet in the air. It would be a F site heavier with all the electrical crap fitted that a moped has. More than likely have a pillion seat. Probably have 5hp + engine too. If you...

If this is is a deliberate act of deceit in order to gain a sale, then I would agree 100%. I am only aware of one occasion when this said to have happened and am not in receipt of of all the facts. I doubt it was a deliberate act but cannot make a judgement.

It is possible to use and S class as a bicycle, many people are doing it. It may be illegal but they are doing it. Same as a lot of people are using illegal race cans on their motorbikes along with small registration plates. Legally sold and purchased. I agree that a dealer should have a moral...

Yes, swapped the original Schwalbe's for Bontrager XR Mud's for the muddy season. Have the same tyres on my Giant, best I have found for the winter.
