    The dongle re-visited

Why should they should not be treated as a motorbike. I own a motorbike, its motor starts to reduce its output at around 150mph not 15 mph. The only human power required is some flex from my wrist to get it moving. It hasn't got pedals and I can't take it into my local cycle shop. My Pedelec...

    The dongle re-visited

On a 250w machine, the dongle merely prevents the bike from becoming a 20kg dead weight at 15mph whilst you are riding. Yes, you can go a bit faster with one but ultimately your maximum speed is dictated by your legs and your level of fitness. You will never go faster that a decent cyclist on a...

    The dongle re-visited

Motor vehicles have been killing people for decades. The odd cyclist haseven been know to kill a child. These forms of transport have not been banned. Why should you think that ebikes would betreated any differently?

Tom What is senseless to some is clearly total sense to others. Life would be boring if we all agreed.

    The dongle re-visited

If everyone stuck to the law and kept quite, homosexuality would still be illegal. Luckily for society people ignored the law and eventually sense was seen. We need people to challenge senseless laws and ideas, that's what will make the future different to the past.

An off road switch is against the rules as I understand. An on the road switch is not.

    The dongle re-visited

Well thanks KTM, only asked but I can see where you are coming from. I look forward to the S class in my next life time. On another note, I did see a KTM on the forum some weeks back, sub 10kg, no electric? Carbon frame, I think. I had many doses of radiotherapy on my left foot last summer...

Dave, I don't understand how this could be used with a Bosch system. Can it?

    The dongle re-visited

Comes up time and time again. Is there actually anyone on this forum or a friend of anyone on this forum who has been prosecuted or jailed for the illegal use of a dongle or any over the allowed limit cycle. If there is, please tell all, thanks. It is my belief that the police are not...

Safer cycling? Don't get a helmet and cross red light

Surely the question must be, if you were going to fall head first onto a kerb stone, would you prefer to do it with or without a cycle helmet fitted. Personally, I'd try it with a helmet fitted.

Church Stretton to Shrewsbury by eBike

Martin, not the usual write up. I read it all but still no idea if the guy liked the bike. Did he?

With Paris moving to 30 kph..

I wish they would make the speed limit in London 20mph, at the moment it feels more like 5mph.

    Sx2 dongle versus badassebikes Typ3.2

SX2 dongle will double the motor cut off speed, around 32mph. The maximum speed that you can travel on the flat is down to you, how fit are you? The motor will assist but you'll need to do a good part of the work. Just remember that the dongle cannot increase the amount of power, just stops...

Bosch challenge for the more technical among us

Surely it is a simple matter for the programmers to correct. When the walk button is held down for several seconds or more, turn the motor at "X" rpm with full torque available. The speed at which the bike moves dependant on gear selected at the time. When the button is released, stop power...

Bosch challenge for the more technical among us

I have had two Bosch driven bikes, both walked on the level ok. On a steep hill, in any gear, they grind to a halt. No torque to speak of. The software is incorrectly written, I suspect. Not sure why Bosch would allow this but they have. I can live with it but fail to understand why I should...

Bosch challenge for the more technical among us

I too find that ECO is a waste of time, seems to pulse and do nothing unless I am going about 5mph. You don't have to pedal more than 15mph to stop using the battery, just switch it to off. I use the off button a lot on the flat and still move along at 15mph on a calm day, and 20 mph with a...

Thanks, I'll investigate. Obviously not a common connector arrangement.
