    Silly Cyclists

A chap I used to know often drove his large car either with no lights on or just sidelights - "I have excellent eyesight. I can detect another vehicle a mile off." Sadly, no longer with us. Mind you, the same fate befalls lots of motorists with full beam on ...

The NOT Gears, How Many is Too Many? thread

Maybe we got what we deserved? Maybe we should plead with Blair to return? If he could convince people that he was leading a Labour party he could con us into thinking we were happy in the best of all possible worlds? I'll hold up my hand and admit to my share in the present disaster - not...

Why don't Americans use electric bicycles?

For years that was my dream bike! I'd just passed the 11+ and bombarded my dad with pleas for that beautiful machine! I got a sit-up-and-beg SA 3 speed Hercules instead ... motorised in later life with a Trojan (?) Mini-motor.

The NOT Gears, How Many is Too Many? thread

For a long time I harboured the thought that 1936 wasn't the best year to be born but since this lot grabbed power I'm sure it was a better bet than, say, 1976!

    Happy ?

Just posted the Gift Aid claim form - now day-dreaming about a new school! (might in fact pay a teacher's wages for a year but I can dream!) :-)

    Helmets

I've often wondered - would a (horse) riding helmet be effective? The Corker motorcycle helmet was a bright idea - if you fell in the canal you might float the right way up? ;-)

Check your rear car bike rack before buying a E bike

David - we have a pair of JuicyBike Classics, which we carry on a Thule 916 carrier. We remove the batteries and most of the contents of the wicker basket before we move off. Hope this helps, Best wishes, Tom.

Is enough being done to bring new consumers to e-bikes?

My second powered 2 wheeler was a C50 ( first was a tandem with a clip-on Mini-Motor). My last powered 2 wheeler was a Honda ANF125 ( a Cub in a posh frock). In between came a string of British bikes and, a BMW flat-twin or two .... The a tank-like PowaByke, which weighed a ton but would climb...

Is enough being done to bring new consumers to e-bikes?

I have to agree. I've long suggested that the fly in the pudding is the battery: 1) the cost of the darn thing, for a start, and 2) the lack of standardisation. It's as if the eBike industry had a death wish. We're happily retired, still running a car, still in love with cycling and camping. Our...

Will my character change when I get my bike

Will your character change? Of course, but only for the better! You'll smile more for a start. You'll revel in the beauty of the landscape, you'll murmur kind words to elderly snails as you sail gently past. You will become more human. Trust me, I'm an e-biker too! Nurse! Sedatives NOW, please...
