    khalkhoff latest pedelec system

many thanks, I was hoping one could adjust power so it wouldn't be all or nothing? it's a tricky thing choosing an ebike, I have an oxygen hub drive im very happy with, I tried a friend's woosh santa ana (chinese crank drive with movement sensor)over the weekend on a long cross country ride...

    Viking E-Go 24 impulse purchase

second that (just yanking it outwards until it more or less shifts OK and do finer adjustment with the adjusting screw), bizarrely works, after my last wipeout did just that despite st Sheldon saying its bad practice http://www.sheldonbrown.com/derailer-adjustment.html and it's been just fine

    khalkhoff latest pedelec system

if you don't mind me asking, what went wrong with the ego? its similar (identical I think) to a Tesco hopper, which at £300 seemed a cheap solution? I haven't tried it but thought it might do as an electric version of a hack bike

Electric Fat Bike Interest In UK?

I agree - in fact I think there's more than just conservatism. when I lock my bog standard btwin triban with oxygen kit to a lamppost where I live with I must admit a hefty kryptonite lock in the town main street I usually get a least three or four comments (usually one nice one from someone...

Electric Fat Bike Interest In UK?

even then I'd not see the benefit over a MTB with fat big apples, specially at a price at which it competes with pretty good ebikes

Pedestrian filmed pushing cyclist off her bike

i usually completely disagree with flecc's extremely zen approach, but in this case I felt different - completely ambivalent: of course its criminally wrong to push someone into oncoming traffic (she could have been killed), but how often do we all come close to loosing it, and how often do...

Torque and Rotation (Cadence) Sensing - Clarification Question

my 2p for what it's worth - I have an oxygen hub drive, a friend has an impulse 2 Kalkhoff, I've used both enough to know the difference. on a sunny day the SS system on the oxygen provides a kind of wave of torque that over longer distances make me work harder (unless I'm going to work and...

    Oxydrive kits

it lives in an asgard lockup and has been dry otherwise too so hopefully it's just a minor case of pragmatic Chinese quality control

    Oxydrive kits

many thanks, I'll grease it and report back if that fixes the squeak

    Oxydrive kits

many thanks for helpful advice, one final question - would opening it and liberally greasing help?

    Oxydrive kits

I have a long commute (13 miles) and the squeak unfortunately is from the motor - is it OK to continue to ignore it (the bike functions exactly otherwise as normal) or am I doing damage or is there risk of being left stranded (i.e. should I replace the clutch)? Many thanks

    Oxydrive kits

mine also developed a squeak but it functions as well as always so I just took it as one of those things, can one ignore it or does one have to do something?

any one been pulled over by uk police

once, as I was racing uphill on a pavement at around 20- 25 mph (it was an emergency) passing policemen in a police car looked at me with mild annoyance/suspicion (I promptly hopped off the pavement)

Can electrifying a bike be this easy?

**** me, there's an instant pedelec business, you should try crowdfunding really, could be a threat to kalkhoff etc, very stealth too (apart from the screams from the cheap, nasty brushed motor as one plough up that hill at 5 mph..)

tuning my bike for more speed

very good point - since cars power/torque isn't limited by law but related to their weight/acceleration, why isn't it the same with ebikes? why should eric pickles have to put up with the same nominal 250 watt I do when he's trying to shift four times as much mass and as a result not able to...

tuning my bike for more speed

in my neck of the woods the police don't have enough time to come out after most burglaries (and don't deal with vandalism at all), if I really want to p*ss off my local community protection officer I should shove my converted raleigh twenty under her/his nose and insist on them checking its...

tuning my bike for more speed

no, that's as I remember it too (130 km/h, which strictly, is 80.77 mph, but practically with speedo error means one hammers along at 85 on the speedo and 80 on the satnav, although, in the sprit of this thread, the French should probably put up signs on the motorways saying the speed limit is...

tuning my bike for more speed

I get where you're coming from (I find 20 to 25 mph on a pedelec more or less ideal), the last time I checked the limit on French motorways (toll roads at least) were 85 mph (of course that, and the lower accident rate on them than UK ones) argue for higher average speed limits (bearing in mind...

    Will increase damage motor

i vaguely recall d8veh saying 10mph is fine, 8mph perhaps and 6 mph not for a long steep hill(but OK for a short one), FWIW my 250w motor is derestricted and up long to me rather steep hills (around two miles) at maximum power (only around 650 watt to be fair with its 18A 36V controller) there...

Dahon vitesse d8 has anybody converted one please

FWIW it's not hard - i converted an ancient raleigh 20 (worst possible choice), it's a matter of fitting the wheel, PAS, levers and joining up wires. Really - I'm not at all technically inclined and managed it - one just has to be methodical and careful. And if you do it fixing it afterwards...
