Converting from Swytch to standard equipment

Your patience in this is appreciated. If I get the KT36/48SVPR-EP02B, then connecting the motor is obvious as to which connector (see attached). The three-pin orange julet connector is either throttle or PAS, two-pin male is a puzzle - as is the nine pin. What are they? Surely there’s a web site...

Converting from Swytch to standard equipment

Ah, so if I have trouble (expected), then I just remove alternate magnets - that’s easily done! Thanks.

Converting from Swytch to standard equipment

I mapped out the swytch hub cable wiring (attached) I think even the colour coding is “standard”.

… it’s 12. So the Swytch PAS is no good.

Converting from Swytch to standard equipment

I was waiting for the OP to reply, but Saneagle is definitely right! I can’t adjust anything on it, it’s locked down pretty tight. I’m not faint-hearted, I’ve investigated the current swytch setup so I understand every wire and signal. I just don’t want to spend c. £100 and buy the wrong thing...

Converting from Swytch to standard equipment

For me too please! I’ve landed on the KT37/48SVPR-EP02B as being a likely choice, because it opens the door for 48v later on too, but I’m confused by the connectors. The information I have found puzzles rather than helps. I’m guessing that you buy a controller + display and a connection...

Alternative to KT for Swytch gen 3 (Air & Max)

The lack of response says it all! I know a lot of frustration surrounds this topic. I’ve now got my head around how I’m going to move away from Swytch gen 3 with the minimum of pain without throwing away my good Swytch packs, etc. 1. Remove the controller from the handlebar module totally, but...

    Makita Power

Again, agreed. It only works out if you already have a number of these power tool batteries already. If it does work effectively then it does mean I can rationalise my battery stock and not have loads of different batteries and chargers. I’m now only a recreational biker and having either Swytch...

    Makita Power

Yes, agreed. That’s why I used terminal block to attach the diode - so I could observe and improve if required. As you say, plenty of space to do that.

    Makita Power

Hi. i’ve been mulling over using my Makita batteries to power the bike for a bit of fun, so here’s the result. Four makita 5.0Ahr packs in series/parallel, hopefully giving something near 10Ahr at 36V. It weighs just over 3kg, and cost about £250 all-in - although I already had the batteries. A...

Alternative to KT for Swytch gen 3 (Air & Max)

If Swytch gen 3 users want to retain there front handlebar battery holder to leverage their investment in their Swytch battery packs, then unfortunately fitting a KT controller in the handlebar module that the current Lishui controller lives in, would seem difficult/impossible! Attached is a...

Converting from Swytch to standard equipment

Ah, I see the point. So I can push as much power as I like - as long as the hub is RATED as 250w. sorry for being thick!

Converting from Swytch to standard equipment

Thanks Nealh - but surely in the UK anything over approx 8 amps on a 36v wheel would be pushing more than 250w. I’m trying to establish what keeps it all uk-legal. Is it a setting in the controller that limits the power to legal limits? Am I allowed to burst to higher powers on a 250w hub?

Converting from Swytch to standard equipment

Hi Saneagle. I’m glad I saw this post. I’ve been considering moving to a KT22 controller when I move away from my Swytch setup - but retaining the Swytch hub. I didn’t realise that the controller was the limiting factor regarding max current drawn. I assumed (wrongly it appears) that I had a...

I’ve just taken a look at clip-on ones. the Sena Pi looks nice and neat without too much bulk. Around 80 quid per person though. Then I looked at the Sena R1 helmet for around £100, and you get twice the range and talk-time and other bells and whistles AND a stonkingly nice crash hat as well...

Maybe if I set my iphone up as a wifi hotspot and my wife connects to that. Maybe an IP connection would be possible?

Do you get other people breaking in on whatever channel you are using? I know they are very short range, so I wouldn’t think it was a necessarily a problem.

Not exactly bikes, but associated. my wife trails behind when we go riding. It would be nice to be able to say “Everything ok?” or “Nice Autumn colours!”, but she wouldn’t hear me. I saw a couple cycling the other day that seemed to have two-way communication, and were chatting as they cycled...
