Swytch Pro/Max yellow battery connector secrets revealed?

The switch on the battery is non-latching. It’s only on when you’re pressing it. Just there to show battery state I’m guessing.

Swytch Pro/Max yellow battery connector secrets revealed?

Hi Saneagle. No, there’s no switch on the battery to enable charging. You just plug in the charger without pressing anything.

Swytch Pro/Max yellow battery connector secrets revealed?

Disclaimer - you mess around with these battery packs at your own risk - what follows are my own observations that may or may not be fact! On the yellow connector on the battery: - the two centre connections (O and D shaped) are charging input only. There is circuitry before the actual battery...

    Throttle vs power assistance

Thanks Saneagle. I started with a swytch kit because for a novice it just falls onto the bike with no thought required - although not cheap. I’m beginning to see that with research and more effort, I could have had a lot more for a lot less! I shall look into KT controllers…

    Throttle vs power assistance

Are they commonly available? I only want assistance for the odd hill or slope, and a little help to overcome the extra weight and friction of the e-kit, or when I can’t be arsed to put effort in. There doesn’t seem to be much information about regarding interfacing with the controllers.

    Throttle vs power assistance

I accept that in the UK you aren’t allowed a throttle, and have the pedal sensor so that the motor only assists if you are peddling. The word throttle implies to me what you get on a motorbike - you turn the twist grip and the engine gives you more umph - which on the pedelec is more like...

Swytch Max biker looking to add an extra battery

My next step (so’s not to invalidate my warranty), is to (after suitable continuity testing) connect my 36v Makita battery set-up to the flat contacts of the handlebar battery holder (that contains the controller). I think AMP connectors will do a reasonable job, considering that its fairly high...

Swytch Max biker looking to add an extra battery

So the “bike side” of all this is understood. You take a 36v battery of whatever make, and you tap into the red and black wires inside the controller (confirmation would be appreciated!). although not my worry, there is some weird sh*t going on inside the Swytch battery. I’m pretty handy with...

Swytch Max biker looking to add an extra battery

Found the thread. It’s”Swytch kit: compatability with non-Swytch componenets” started by Benjahmin, and photos posted by Quintessence.

Swytch Max biker looking to add an extra battery

I should have made a note of which thread it was I found them on. I have saved the photos. Do you think the owner of the photos would mind if I reposted them? I can’t face trawling through all the threads again. It’s all for a common cause, and they can claim ownership for them on this thread!

Swytch Max biker looking to add an extra battery

I shall read and absorb! I spent a long evening yesterday reading through as many posts as poss. I did find a post that had a photo of the inside of the Swytch Pro/Max battery holder. It confirms what Saneagle says - that there is just two wires (red and black) coming down from the yellow...

Swytch Max biker looking to add an extra battery

Thanks Saneagle. What you say is exactly what I want to hear from this forum - the voice of experience. I shall take onboard what you say and learn. I was hoping that someone would offer up some photos of what is inside the controller box. I’m no coward when it comes to opening things up to...

Swytch Max biker looking to add an extra battery

Hi. I’ve just found this thread and it seems to be about exactly what I’m intested in - adding other battery packs onto the Swytch Max set up. I’ve got a number of Makita 18v packs for my power tools and I would like to use them for my bike by having two Makita batteries in series - giving 36 -...

21700 10 Ah Battery Build: Peer Review

I’ve been told to start a new thread on this, which I will. If you measure the charge connector in the middle you get full battery voltage (around 42v). If you measure at the output slots you get 32v. When the battery declares that it’s flat, the battery is 32.6v. I Accept that my crude analysis...

21700 10 Ah Battery Build: Peer Review

Thanks. Sorry, didn’t make what I needed clear! I’ve got the Makita battery holders which I’ll connect up in series. I’m also going to add a 10A voltage regulator to bring the voltage down to 32v before it goes into the Swytch battery holder on the handlebars (the Max battery appears to do that...

21700 10 Ah Battery Build: Peer Review

Hi Solarbake. You’ve done exactly what I want to do - connect two of my Makita batteries in series. I’d appreciate any detail as to how you connected these into the battery holder.

Swytch kit: compatibility with non-Swytch components?

Hi. I get +32v if I measure both 3 and 4 with reference to 2. I get 42v measuring across the charge connectors in the middle. That makes me think that the battery pack has a circuit to drop whatever the actual battery voltage is, down to 32v at the output connectors. I don’t get any reading on 1...
